26  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: mayweather vs pacquiao confirmed!!! on: December 02, 2009, 11:35:48 AM
Floyd did lose some of the earlier rounds to Hatton, Zab and Oscar.  But are you so foolish that you can't see that he often gives away rounds in the start of a fight, to feel out his opponent?  Again you're taking shots at Mayweather's credibility with little thought to what you're actually saying.

Yes you're right, he obviously fought Marquez in anticipation for a showdown with Manny - nuttin wrong with that.

I highly doubt that a Mayweather v Pacquiao showdown will take place at anything other than the official welterweight limit.
I understand why Manny wanted to secure every advantage possible against Cotto - BUT now he is a champion, I think it would be silly of him to insist on defending his title in a particular division, but refuse to fight at the said weight division limit.
Think with your head and not with your heart. Am I missing something? Isn't one of Mannys main strategies to pile up 10-8 rounds at the beginning of every single one of his fights? Or am I watching some other Filipino? Am I the one thats not seeing things correctly here? Hey I've been called asshole many times in life but never moron. I'm betting with my head here. Don't underestimate this Manny Pacquiao. This guy is dangerous! It won't suprise me if Mayweather beats him. But I do believe Manny is gonna take the TKO victory then retire.

There's been a few debates over HHH's success. Marketability or Family relations?

This was a time in Wrestling that I'll never forget. That Flair/Hogan match in MSG was so exciting. I cannot tell you how crazy that place was going. That was a Wrestlemania main event match right there. MSG, Hogan, Flair, Perfect, Bobby, Hepner, Finkel, and VKM. I've seen some great matches there. This one was pretty special. Especially after Hulkster just lost the belt because of Flair. Total goosebumps!
29  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: HULK HOGAN - FAQ on: September 09, 2009, 02:21:09 PM
Yes, Bret beat Flair in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in october of 1992. I forgot about Diesel beating Backlund for the WWE title in MSG.
I just remember them showing pics of Bret holding the belt and saying he won the heavyweight title from Flair. I totally forgot about the Backlund/Diesel match and I was there! Thanks for the memories.
30  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: HULK HOGAN - FAQ on: September 04, 2009, 05:42:33 PM
Hey Bret was great no doubt. But how many saw the match when he won the title for the very first time against Flair? Couldn't believe that news! Why wasn't it televised? But with all of my heart I was truly shocked when Warrior pinned the Hulkster. I'll never understand why? But I live with it. I would have been disgusted if I saw my childhood idol submit to the sharpshooter or get pinned to the pink and black. Hulkster is Immortal. Bret Hart is Canadian. Stu Hart and the Dungeon don't mean jack diddly to Chef Timmy and all his wrestling friends. So glad Hulkster played by his rules and never lost to Bret. Best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be? Hulkamania is immortal.

Whats the card gonna be?
Show, Jericho/Crime Time
Anybody have any thoughts on this? Undertaker wrote on Facebook he's back at Summerslam.

To me I'll always see him as the white rapper/Marky Mark/whigger white bread cracker wannabe. I've been watching Wrestling my entire life. The spinning belt just really didn't do it for me. Every single Federation superstar gave him their push. Even though he was out of his league. Like with HBK at Mania twenty whatever. Cena was so amatuer in that match. Same with all the fueds with Edge. When Edge lost that big match against Cena in his hometown. What was it a TLC match or something? How lame was the match when he handed Umaga his first defeat? When he choked him with the ring rope. We've all seen it. Sometimes coming out up to four times with entrance music on an episode of RAW. Who's been pushed harder then this guy? It's way past his time to turn heel. He's one of the main reasons why the Federation is so stale today. Hey hats off to the guy. Wrestling fan his whole life. Hard work paid off for him. I only felt him one time. When he pulled #30 for the Rumble two years ago at MSG. Crowd went berzerk when his music came on. Other then that. This guy has to pull a NWO Hogan type switch.
33  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: The rReal World Champion on: July 30, 2009, 03:51:55 PM
Who knows. 1991-1992 was a f****d up time for the WWE because of the sex and steroid scandals.
I've been complaining about the Hogan/Flair Mania match up ever since it didn't happen. Most of my wrestling friends say Hulkster refused loose to Flair? It was still very cool and controversial when Flair interferred in the Hogan/Taker match up.
34  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: (24th July) - Love Or Hate? on: July 30, 2009, 03:46:52 PM
They also need to wrestle more. Too much talk. Ring entrances take for ever. Watch Randy Orton go to the takes him 10 minutes to get there. The 90's attitude era rocked. Who will ever forget Austin diving off a zamboini onto Vince? Or Austin hitting Vince over the head with a bed pan? Or the rock with his classic one liners / catchphrases? Too bad...we'll never see that again.
The ring talk is what my least favorite part is. Plus John Cena and the misuse of Gail Kim. Those are other issues though. They need someone to navigate the interviews and really make it more professional. Someone to put fuel on the fire. Make it more dramatic like Gene did. Keep the interviews outside of the ring and make use of the stadium. They're trying so hard to push Orton but it's not working. Youngest Champ ever. Wrestled Hogan. Wrestled Flair. Undertaker at Mania. All that controversy with the Macs and HHH. He still hasn't crossed over to Superstardom or became Legendary. Sure the show is all about Orton. But he's not in our hearts.
35  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: (24th July) - Love Or Hate? on: July 30, 2009, 12:39:27 PM
You do raise a very good point here. J.R being from oaklahoma and King being from Tenessee. Lol..."ya'll"..... Smiley We find that kind of talk here in Toronto a joke.
To me the entire package known as WWE is a mess. They need someone to give interviews like Mean Gene used to. Just one title for every division. And most importantly. Bring the soap opera theatrics back in. It's a simple formula that they lost long ago. Slow the pace down.
36  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: The rReal World Champion on: July 30, 2009, 12:35:25 PM
That was another title change that shouldn't have happened. They shoul have let flair squeek by Savage and lose the title at Summersalm in Wembly if anything. They made him lose the title way too soon.
What exactly was the point of him loosing so soon? It's just a time in my life that I'm gonna have to try and block out.

Itís not limited to who you can relate to, but who is entertaining enough for you to watch.

Vince is a billionaire. And notwithstanding my own 7 figure income bracket as a standard Getbigger, I still cannot relate to him, but I always enjoyed his character on TV. Wink

When he was the commentator he didn't bring that whole Mr. McMahon billionaire act. I think he was one of the best though. As for JR and King. I don't like y'all. I'm from NY I don't do y'all. Y'all isn't something we say here. We don't wear Cowboy hats here. JR targets one crowd of people. Southeners. Same with the King. No it doesn't make me watch the show less. But they are definitely directed towards Southeners.
39  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: The rReal World Champion on: July 27, 2009, 01:33:23 PM
It's just a shame that after that huge victory at the Rumble. What did he throw something like 50+ chops in that match? He was awesome! Bobby Heenan finally got his World Champion. Then he lost it straight away to Savage at Mania. What a heartbreak.
40  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: (24th July) - Love Or Hate? on: July 27, 2009, 01:28:33 PM
Absolutely not. The king is funny on the mic and J.R has major experince behind him He even announced for the Atlanta Falcons for a while before comming to the WWE.
One mans trash is another mans Treasure. I don't think the King is funny at all with that high pitched voice. And about JR. Last time I checked Atlanta was in the South.

Look at how big Hulkster looks next to Warrior and Sid.

Flair rocked the house in this press conference! Look at Perfect and Bobby in the Background.
43  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: (24th July) - Love Or Hate? on: July 27, 2009, 11:40:26 AM
JR wears a Cowboy hat and King sounds like a Southern Bell. They're Southeners. I bet they both drive pick up trucks and watch Nascar. I'm a New Yorker. We don't wear Cowboy Hats. Not everyone can relate to these two Guys? Not everyone likes these kind of people. Everyone could relate to Bobby, Jess, Monsoon, VKM, and Perfect though.  Maybe except for Jesse because of the way he dressed? But his announcing was hands down the best Wrestling has ever heard.
44  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: Night of Champions PPV results... on: July 27, 2009, 07:54:09 AM
I just wonder who's buying these PPV's? You can miss the next three PPV's and it's all gonna be the same thing. They're going nowhere fast with this Legacy. The Big Show in two matches? Undertaker and Edge are out. Plus Gail Kim switched to Raw. Why tune in Friday nights anymore? Mania, the Rumble, and Monday Night Raw. Thats all I watch. The Federation is really a drag these days. Undertaker wrote on Facebook he's back at Summerslam.
45  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Sports Discussion Boards / Re: Cotto vs. Pacman on: July 26, 2009, 09:36:20 PM
Did you hear about David Haye turning down an offer to fight Vitali??

He's gonna take on 7 foot Nikolai Valuev now.  Roll Eyes
Haye bailed on the Klitchkos for a shot Valuevs belt. If he wins? His next fight is against Evander Holyfield. Their trying to keep the sport in America. If Haye beats Valuev he has a list of opponents in America that can move up to Heavyweight and fight him. Roy Jones, Tarver, Toney, Dawson, Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins, and of course the main guy their after. Evander Holyfield. Nobody gives a shit about the Klitchkos. In my life time this is the absolute worst the heavyweight division has ever been. Pacman by round 8.
46  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Sports Discussion Boards / Re: Cotto vs. Pacman on: July 25, 2009, 08:11:45 PM
Pacman is gonna pounce on a spirit broken Cotto as soon as the bell rings. And keep the heat on him the entire fight. Cotto looked good against Zab because Zab's a toilet. Thats like Using the Mayweather/Gatti fight to highlight Mayweathers career. Those guys were way out of their leagues. Way, way, way out of their leagues. Two years ago Pacman wouldn't have had a chance against Cotto. November 14, 2009 is a totally different Cotto though. Cotto doesn't have it anymore. By round 8 the fight is over.
47  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: (24th July) - Love Or Hate? on: July 25, 2009, 07:52:32 PM

So how do explain this marmot?
48  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Wrestling Board / Re: The rReal World Champion on: July 24, 2009, 04:46:20 PM
They could have done much, much more with Flair back in 1991 when he came. They really f*****d that one up IMO. Think of the possibilities:

Savage vs Flair
Hogan vs Flair
Warrior vs Flair
Undertaker vs Flair

And these wrestlers were all much younger back then. The matches would have rocked.
It could have been the biggest match ever. Hogan/Flair. Champion vs Champion at Wrestlemania. When Flair arrived in the Federation he turned the place upside down. Bobby finally got his Champion. Mr. Perfect had another lead role. It could have easily been one of the best build ups to a Mania main event ever. Hey I loved Flair/Piper. Saw it live in MSG and it was killer. Loved the whole thing with Savage and Nature Boy banging Liz. But VKM had all the time in the World for those fueds down the road. Hogan/Flair is what the entire Wrestling World was dying to see. Not just when Flair came to the Federation but for years and years before that! The question always was. Who's the greatest champion of all? If they faced off at Mania I bet Flair would have won. This interview still gives me goose bumps. My Brother and I were going ape shit when we saw this the first time!!! Finally the Dream Match was going to happen.

He definitely deserves the HOF. But he'll always be sitting back seat to Bobby, Perfect, VKM, Jess, and the Gorilla.

I always watched the WWF. But of course I knew of Ric Flair. It was one of my best Wrestling days when Heenan came on with a Belt and said it belonged to the Real World Champion, Ric Flair. Finally we were gonna see the long anticipated showdown between Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. Now maybe someone could explain to me what happened here? That belt that Flair had? Was that the WCW belt, the belt from where ever he came from, or just made up? Did he leave the the other wrestling federation as champion and then prance all over the WWF with their title? I remember that they used to block it out on TV but never knew if it was just part of the show or not? Anyone have the story behind this?
