Play acoustic all you'll need for good tone is lots of practice.  All the gear in the store won't matter.  This guy, Bryan Sutton, has the best tone in acoustic music today.  You should check out his vids.  Unreal.  This vid has a lot of good tips.  Sick on the electric too.

I got cellulitis in my lower leg from a mosquito bite a few years ago.  Sucked balls, but the pain meds were nice.  No permanent damage, but I was shittin' bricks 'cause i thought i was going to get flesh eating dis.  I was destroying the squat rack after about a month, so it all turned out good.  Ankle lost a bit of mobility though.
