lawl. it's shocking how stupid some murricans are. the reporters on the live stream couldn't even pronounce "chechen". i mean is it really that hard? it sounds exactly how it looks.
the sad part is now usa/russia relations are probably going to suffer because of ignorance
I was married to a woman from Russia.. She told me how the Chechen sect over there are a wicked, trouble making, islamic vermin over there that the Russian people despise.. Chechan has nothing to do with the true Christian Orthodox culture..

I remember reading an interview with Casey just before the show and he mentioned that he had been on a 1500 calorie diet for a while.
Which is entirely possible when you are using amphetamines as a diet aid..

These are all opinions. Was Casey better back in the early 1970's under Jones or years later when he made him comeback. I'd say he was better when he was taking the bodybuilding world by storm in 1970.
Did Mentzer make tremendous progress using HIT? Yes, absolutely.
They both used drugs. Their results were dependent on that fact, just as Arnold, Columbu, etc, all made great results with high volume.
.. Had Casey Viator under Art Jones, and Mike Mentzer- swapped workout regiments with Arnold & Franco; they would have probably all achieved the same results with the same physiques ..

I have found by both observation and personal experience that a good debate of ideas can be educational, enlightening and respectful, and that someone who spends their time trying to prove everyone else wrong leaves a person bitter, alone(except with negative minded folk who share your pessimism)and limiting as to fulfilling potential because of the closed minded thinking.
I am certain from other people here who have known Mike that he was a nice guy, but that he also was probably the second category of the type I pointed out above.
I recall seeing that YOUTUBE vid here a while back where he is sitting around with a couple of people, they were filming those training videos of his at the time, and the scene reminded me of those blithering idiot old drunks you see at a shady bar who chain smoke and ramble on like the know it alls they think they are. To me that was pretty sad to see one of the people I looked up to in weight training, especially a man who had success and smarts like Mike did,to be carrying on like that. Never mind the fact that he preached a weight training theory that had people in the gym less frequently, preached about how it gave you more time to enjoy life yet the guy himself could not even find the 30 minutes a few times a week to workout like he preached the last what 10-20 years of his life. Not pissing on his grave, just saying how I see it.
I don't know just me, but real intelligence comes from an open mind, and one side of that you have the too smart for there own good(see most political/race threads for an example), and on the other side you have the retard who cares about learning everything, being everything, takes/gives loads of advice and never follows it(think your average Jason Genova video.)
To me Mike was too smart for his own good and had he kept a more open mind rather than being dogmatic I suspect he would have made millions, kept those millions, and would probably be still alive today and not self medicating himself to death with first speed and later jack daniels.
X2 (times two).. At the end of the day, there is really no wrong way to train provided that muscles are thoroughly stimulated..

Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Man kills door-to-door salesman: I’ll kill anybody that steps on my property

In terms of the law, does the "no trespassing" sign give him right to shoot and kill? I am assuming no because the guy is being charged with murder. Getbiggers, speak on this. http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/26/florida-man-kills-door-to-door-salesman-i%E2%80%99ll-kill-anybody-that-steps-on-my-property/A man in Cape Coral, Florida on Wednesday was arrested for shooting and killing an unarmed door-to-door salesman on his property.Kenneth Bailey Roop, 52, has been charged with second-degree murder for killing 30-year-old Nicholas Rainey. A co-worker who witnessed the shooting said Rainey had knocked on Roop’s door, but received no answer. While Rainey was walking down the drive-way, Roop pulled up in his pickup truck and asked why Rainey was at his house. Rainey explained that he was selling steak and seafood. The witness said Roop then pulled out a black handgun and shot Rainey. As Rainey lay on the ground, Roop fired another bullet into the back of his head.Roop later told police that he shot Rainey in the head “for effect” and that he had three no trespassing signs on his property. Roop said he feared for his life.“I’m not going to give him the chance to do something to me,” he told police. “I was in fear.”An off-duty Collier County sheriff’s deputy was nearby and heard the gunshots. When she arrived at Roop’s property, she found Rainey dying on the ground while Roop was in his garage reloading his handgun. “He was telling the officer, ‘he stepped on my property, he trespassed, I’ll kill anybody that steps on my property,’ somewhere along them lines. It was just unbelievable,” one witness told the The News-Press. “She never flinched. She deserves a medal. I don’t think he was done [shooting].” The deputy ordered Roop to drop his weapon and held him at gunpoint until police officers arrived. Roop’s neighbors described him as “the neighborhood crazy.” Roop has a concealed weapons permit and approximately 14 firearms.Well then I guess a 5 case deal on a combo pack is out of the question?...

really?
can you tell us what transpired in those conversations?
As a teen, I was already a bodybuilding fanatic who had embraced the high intensity / low volume teachings of Arthur Jones… I had even purchased a Nautilus double arm machine, while my training partner purchased the 1rst. generation pullover… Along with the other basic equipment, we had quite a set up for a garage home gym… Through his articles in the magazines as I recall, Arthur Jones invited readers to call in to the Nautilus factory in Deland, Fla to speak to him personally- anytime… I called in twice, and both times found Jones to be friendly and informative… though I do not remember the details of the conversations, I recall him as being very thorough as he lectured me at length- as to the dynamics and proper applications of the Nautilus system... He was patient and freely giving of his time- even to a young impressionable teenaged kid… It was obvious to me that Jones was very passionate about philosophies as they applied to bodybuilding… I feel fortunate and privileged to have had the opportunity to speak to the man himself…

you guys ever do that phone consultation that mike offered back in the early 90s?
i did a 30 minute consultation with him.....it was pretty unreal how enthusiastic he got over the phone explaining his heavy duty philosophy.
the guy was passionate.
really wouldn't delve in to diet much.....just said to eat a balanced diet and not to overtrain (imagine that).
i asked him about his favorite "juice"......he replied that he liked grape juice. lol......wouldn't talk about gear.
he did use the sun burn analogy and the stick of dynamite one as well.
anyone else talk to mentzer?
No- but as a teenaged kid from California, I spoke to Arthur Jones several times at length in 1972'...

Did Dorian do 1 set only?
It's not so much about volume more than it is reaching a "threshold". Dorian performed multiple sets to enable a generation of intensity leading up to the final most important one. Once having achieved this desired state with the proper "dose" of exercise, a trainee will know that they have had enough of both volume and intensity- to adequately stimulate muscle growth..

Ed Nunn doesn't flow, something off, I think maybe short legs or something, hard to pin point but looks akward, I think he has been lucky so far and do not even put him in Rhoden's category, Rhoden is the closest we've had to Shawn and Flex since they stepped off stage.
just needs more torso, thats all..

I was kicked out for doing deadlifts this morning ... "sir you need to stop slamming the weights" No reasoning with these people ...& I was not slamming the weights. Lammmmeee as fuuuckk
The rules in my gym:Gym Rules 1) Re-place your dumbbells & break down Olympic bars to one plate when finished Put your weights back where they belong 2) Train hard or go home 3) Use chalk 4) Do not lower dead lifts quietly 5) Loud music only 6) If you are not grunting or yelling- you are not training hard enough 7) Respect the equipment Beat all personal records- or you will not grow and stay looking small 9) Respect other members 10) Show your card and keep your dues current to help pay the rent and keep the lights on

You guys crack me up. So I guess you also must believe that Reg Park had to have done *whatever* to get his Hercules roles, win Mr. Universe, whatever..
... so if these guys didn't xxxxxx, then their fame would have gone to some one else?
Maybe this is the only way you guys see yourselves achieving anything in this life, but these guys you are talking about were all just money waiting to be made. It's not complicated.
These discussions say more about you guys then about them..
You are correct- I believe that the reason some of these gays, er guys on this thread make up these stories is because they wish that THEY were the ones getting fucked up the ass by a schmoe! lol..
