My common sense tells me it's not impossible at all, I suppose they don't all go to bed at 1.55 do they,I also presume that the squatters them selves are walking around without all getting mugged or murdered.
You make it seem as though the probability of being killed/mugged is higher than it not happening, I don't believe that to be the case.
Not even worth my time. Next.

So you basically walk around always expecting the worst? You carry on living like that, it must be a fucking nightmare always wondering when your going to take your last breath.
Everything you write reeks of fear. Have you ever heard the term "you create your own reality"?
Try walking through a squatter camp at 2am and 'create your own reality'. In terms of perception, you can change your own views, but it does not change the PHYSICAL aspects such as people lurking around with bad intentions.

Good Post, the people criticising me have more than likely lived sheltered lives experiencing very little danger. Like I said, the smack talking idiots are always the first to go. Most people think they are tough, that's because they have lived in a protected environment, never been tested or exposed to a genuine threat to life. If you understand the precariousness of your life, you take great pains to preserve it.
Exactly. It's the people that don't know about the horrific possibilities that could happen that are 'not scared' and 'who cares'. Lets see how they feel about it when they're lying in their shit and piss with a bloodied face, crying in an alleyway as some thugs are laughing at them with a few last kicks before putting a bullet in their head.

Don't bother with him.. He seems like a real dick. Anyone with a bit of world knowledge knows of these types of events.
Yes, admittedly my description of 'I know a story' was a bit shit but this is getbig so I just write what first pops into my head even. Though I do personally have an old police friend and do believe him and have met a few detectives, one which I was told by my police friend spent a third of his salary on booze, probably due to the work. But if anyone speaks to a person in a third world country and mentions the idea of a single young women or man hitchhiking and they will say it is common sense that she or anyone should not be doing this as the chances of getting raped, murdered or at least robbed is very high. I think the same applies to parts of South America as well where the situation is the same or worse.

Do you have evidence to back up your story from your policeman friend? I wasnt going to ask but you seem to be pushing it as truth so why not?
People always tell stories to empasise a point but most of them are analogies not truth.
People die the same or worse every day. That's just one example, why would I have bothered to ask him for more evidence? The details might be different, but this stuff happens and to foreingers as well as they are more naive. The guy sees murders almost every day, different world.

Know a story where a policeman detective picked up an English girl who was hitchhiking, he told her she is lucky she was not dead and to never ever do this again......she shrugged at him as if he didn't know anything. A few days she was picked up by a millionaire who later married her and they lived happliy ever after on a tropical island. Everyone has stories. From a policeman I know first hand accounts of worse, worked next to a squatter camp

you should watch "apocalypse man" with rudy reyes. interesting show, he talks a lot about the reality of those kind of scenarios, basically the nice guys all get mugged, raped and murdered first. situational awareness, observe the situation, weigh the odds, create an escape plan and THEN if you still feel some compulsion to be the good samaritan, go help someone. but ALWAYS assume they are out to get you. don't just walk in unarmed and unaware and expect to talk your way out.
Yes, I'm South Africa. I cringe when I see how naive some of the tourists are....they are from a different world. Also traveled with Europeans to third world countries and they believe everyone is as good natured as their homelands haha They even get pissed off at my alertness and precautions, but then again I used to hear daily stories of people dying horrifically so it was ingrained in my mind. I KNOW what people are capable of and don't trust any stranger. They everyone is automatically 'good'. You ALWAYS have to keep looking over your shoulder and make eye-contact and acknowledge everyone. What the other people doing around you? Take note, think. Eventually, you learn to do it without even thinking. Know a story where a policeman detective picked up an English girl who was hitchhiking, he told her she is lucky she was not dead and to never ever do this again......she shrugged at him as if he didn't know anything. A few days later he investigated her BODY lying like trash. Gang raped to DEATH. I try explain this stuff to English and European people but they are oblivious, their liberal propaganda has given them an illusion of the reality outside their sheltered borders.

britsh people are tolerant but have a strong sense of right and wrong
our troops are quite rightly held in high esteem
outside of the idiots that will as usual go after the police for shooting the machete wielding psychos
there is a growing sense of injustice growing in the silent majority
people are sick of political correctness and liberal fuck wits protecting extremists rights
if the main stream political parties dont get on top of this there will be a massive surge to the right om peoples views
multiculturism is failing through lack of integration between communities and a lack of common ground
Yes, I agree. People are also voting more for UKIP in response perhaps due to these issues more than the EU ones.

Condo = condominium / flat / apartment, pretty much all the same thing. Pretty sure they can be bought on ground level, but most condo buildings in Thailand only have rooms on the second floor due to flooding in a lot of areas. I have seen a few buildings in Bangkok with ground floor units but fuck all if I would ever buy one on the ground there, it floods way too much.
I've only visited Cambodia a few times so that's interesting hear. I know Vietnam is also very strict on land ownership and only recently have loosened the restrictions slightly on foreign land ownership. I'd buy some up in a jiffy there if I could, that place is going to blow up in the next 15-20 years tourism wise.
Good point about the flooding. Was in Vietnam as well but only Saigon/Ho chi Minh but I'm sure its a lot nicer out in the country and beaches. And yes, Air France started flying there directly relatively recently and I think the rest of the European airlines will soon follow and will start picking up with tourism. Same for Cambodia as well I think, buildings are popping up quite quickly now in Phnom Penh.

Are you high? Tolerant? Brits are some of the worst fucks in history. They only tolerate other pasty white people and Indians if they are their servants.
I am foreigner who lives here and they are good people. Don't confuse the average person with the upper-class types.

I'm seeing some of the responses on facebook from English people. Quite angry to say the least and these are generally quite restrained/polite people.

Yes they make it extremely difficult and make sure you are fully assimilated into the culture. He speaks fluent Thai and is married to a Thai as well. He's had a business in Bangkok for the last 20 years.
Foreigners can own land, they are limited to 49% ownership though, and have a 30 year "lease" at which point the 51% Thai ownership can choose to take over or sell.
You can however buy condo's outright.
Thanks for clearing that up. By condo, do you mean a flat/apartment? I know in Cambodia they cannot be bought on ground level but all others are fine.

Go read a secular history book my friend. Arab history around that time. , go to your local library and take out a book.
And lol that's why whole reason to wanted to kill muslims. Those pagans worshipped idols and stupid things, Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) delivers the message to worship God alone( same message and moses and jesus pbuh) and this angered them... Remember at those times the pagans out numbers the Muslims by a lot.
The Pagans did not outnumber the Moslems, the Roman Empire was Christian by 600 AD. The Eastern Roman Empire under the Greeks was Orthodox Christian as were the lands in the Middle East and North Africa until the Moslems invaded.

Chosen by committee for a very express purpose-spreading Christianity throughout the nonchristian world. Our modern perception of Jesus was determined by men who never met jesus many decades after his death.
Not spreading as such, but rather for a specific interpretation perhaps, as Christianity had many sects and deviations, and one can imagine with the size of the Roman Empire and slow and primitive communication and isolated areas how this must have been.

it wasn't a war with the USSR, dumbshit, it was a war with the US. their democratically elected, stable representative government ASKED the USSR to intervene, because the mujahideen who were just a tiny radical sect with little influence prior to the late 70's were "mysteriously" getting millions of dollars worth of c4, stinger missiles, and m16's and military/guerrilla warfare training from "somewhere". and yes, compared to the radical muslim shithole it is now, it was a paradise.
the only one revising history here is you. go burn an evolution textbook, you're so uniformed it's sad.
(I recently read 'The Hidden War' by a Russian journalist who was there in Soviet times.) It was a proxy war, the Americans supplying the Terrorists in order to put strain on the Soviet Union. The Soviets and their Socialist allies in Afghanistan actually tried to create a civilized modern society in comparison to the Mujaheeden/Taliban who America supported.
