I not being an Arnold or Lou fan. With that being said Arnold was the clear winner. Lou looked fantastic....but Arnold was just out and out great and better than Lou this day.

I still think Poole deserved a least one of the 3 Olympias he competed in. If you see the common decision all these great BB's made was to leave the IFBB. Even though it was the best game in town in so many words. Poole, Sergio, Robbie, Mentzer, Padilla  and Nubret. You can only make guys eat shit for so long before they just say the hell with it. Hell even Bill Pearl must have said screw it and hung up his trunks. I am sure Chuck Sipes probably should have done better. I believe Joe Weider was the king maker and if you pissed him off you were done....Look at Kal Szkalak...pissed Joe Weider and was DONE! Took up cycling instead..Bikes that is. He ( Joe Weider) shafted allot of guys as many if not more than he didn't.
In fact didn't Joe steal the likeness of Robbie to use for his own? What about guys like Freddy Ortiz, Warren Fredericks.....oh yea they were Lurie boys silly me. Boyer Coe had to feel cheated too. Anyway if I sound like I am not a Weider fan...... you are very smart because I am not! 

I can only say as I met him when I was kid living around the corner from the N.J. headquarters, that he was always a nice man....and had to clean up up alot of Joe's shit and was basically gulity by association...blood. He probably did piss a good majority of people off, as I am sure other successful people have. I see where another person here says how Hoffman and Lurie are or were true brothers to the sport. believe me they are in the same boat as you have said about the Weiders. Anyway he made pile of cash......BUT still was the Ambassador for the sport! A true icon and historian is gone and I am sure we are a little better for it. Rip in Mr. Ben Weider.

Well JohnnyV if winning two Olympias isn't good enough LOL then how about Tim Belknap 5'4" and quite massive for his time and size. Or how about the late Ron Tuefel? Both these guys were quite impressive.

He is just for lack of a better word HUGE. even in his street clothes.  I don't know how he could fit through door ways.

BB Thanks! I am glad he is alive....it a shame he won't talk , as I am sure he has his reasons and  we will just have to accept that and leave him alone.

What is another amazing thing he was part owner of a professional gym at the ripe old age of now get this 15, yeah that's right 15. It was in Jersey City N.J. where he also owned another gym when he was older that burned down in a fire. Now that is pretty impressive if you ask me. Considering most 15 y.o. kids nowadays only play x box and play station.

Hi Everyone, I will add my two cents about Denie. He and I have never met but we have conversed over the Internet through e mail for a few years now. He is a genius without doubt. I use to live in Pa. now I am in the wet state of Washington. He is friends with my by and his (Denie) buddy Pete. This man has sent me unbelievable photo's and his as Clarence Bass says "Denie's Doodles which are sometimes just plain awesome and sometimes comical. If you ask him a question he will always answer you sometimes numerous times with information. which he is a fountain of! I am just sorry I never got to meet him in person. My buddy Pete says there isn't another person like him ! Pete is very close to him and does not divulge too much as he says he feels Denie deserves his privacy also. He says when he converses with him he is in awe by how smart and forth giving as well as generous he is with his time and knowledge. I am telling you this second hand and not telling you everything as I believe in what my buddy thinks about Denie's privacy. I also agree that he seems to get pushed aside by most in the BB world, Even though he I am sure made Weider and Lurie lots of greenbacks.
He hasn't even been inducted to either of their Halls of Fame....IFBB or WBBG which is a complete slap in the face and a travesty. I don't want to criticise this site.... BUT they don't even have him listed in the Almanac section as a member of the supporting cast. I hope this is just an over sight. Anyway He is an icon in every sense of the word in the sport of weight training not just BB. WHEW! I just fell off my soap box. Thanks C.B
