1  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Dana White Shouldn't Be Allowed to Complain About Referees...... on: March 12, 2009, 05:53:03 AM
I agree it's not an easy job, but I won't cry over there paycheck!

That said, this was a crazy bad stoppage, there's a huge difference between protecting a guy's life and stopping a fight because the guy received a good punch!!!!

And referees, on the other hand, should stop reacting to the boos of the audience, everybody seems to become a red neck in face of violence, be they a fat black chick or a redish farm boy! Wink
2  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans *video* on: March 11, 2009, 09:20:43 PM
Rampage has no chance as he won't even be there.  The bout has been changed.  Rampage is out and Machida is in.  This is a helluva more exciting match up!

please give us more details!
I get my news here! Wink
3  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans *video* on: March 10, 2009, 12:31:56 AM
I'm worried this started with too much ego... Amongst us and amongst them...

To me, it's obvious that both of them are still evolving so, both of them are young enough to keep on evolving for a while, so a lot of thing could change in the coming months...

Rampage needs to diversify, he's too much of a boxer... if he does that, we could be surprised, if he doesn't, he could get lucky, but apart from those two options, Evans is the champ and will stay the champ (13-0!, need I remind you! Wink

Dana is a stupid fanatic.
5  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans *video* on: March 08, 2009, 10:59:36 PM
Rampage is so annoying and funny at the same time! lol

But Evans' hands are way too fast for him!
6  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: First real jiu jitsu injury on: March 06, 2009, 11:06:46 PM
I had a knee and elbow injury and it got better when I started doing small movements

Physiotherapeuts would tell you to bring sinovial fluids through small movements - blood isn't what heals articulations, sinovial fluids does

Safety First if you want this sport to grow.

I don't care about it growing or not, but I care about the amount of rules piling up! It's already a really unrealistic martial art with all the the places you can't strike; if they aim too much at keeping them without injuries, I'll just watch sambo, bjj, etc., competitions 'cause mma is getting boring!
8  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Early Stoppages in MMA -- Has "Intelligent Defense" Gone Too Far? on: March 02, 2009, 08:22:27 AM
more important to stop the fight early on the side of caution so the fighter can fight again sooner.... coupla months, rather than later.... 6 months + or worse never fight again at all.....
protect yourself at all times.

they stop fights even when guys are protecting themselves

early stoppages simply denies the fact that guys can come back
9  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Early Stoppages in MMA -- Has "Intelligent Defense" Gone Too Far? on: February 24, 2009, 07:25:47 AM
I agree totally, Cobb was in trouble, nothing more...

In another forum, a guy said:
"Cobb wasn't defending himself at all until the ref stopped it."

And I replied:
Can't a guy land two punches without the judge giving him victory?

Where this really bugs me is that it doesn't respect the time and effort these guys put in... he could have taken a couple more shots... and maybe prooved himself... if the argument is that 99,9% of the time, in such a situation, the guy will loose, I can follow the logic, but if it's only to protect the UFC's asses against bad publicity from injuries and eventually death, then it's not respecting the fact that fighters can come back either...
10  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: "UFC 95: Sanchez vs. Stevenson" ROUND BY ROUND UPDATES LIVE SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: February 22, 2009, 05:24:31 PM

He was a fool for striking the way he did.. He looked like a high school kid... GOT CAUGHT HARD!!!!!!!!!!

That's what happens when you don't respect the other guy's stricking!
11  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: GSP's training methods on: February 21, 2009, 11:46:51 PM
ive rolled with gsp before his first fight with bj penn, gsp came to renzos academy in nyc to train under renzos watchful eye,he wanted renzo to help sharpen his bjj game.gsp trained under the watchful eye of john danaher,a nasty renzo blackbelt that is imho prolly one of the best in the world at having perfect bjj technique.when john and george rolled the first time, gsp was taking privates in the corner with john, most of the class stopped rolling and just watched.john caught george in a triangle in under 30 seconds, caught him in a armbar 1 minute later, caught george in a heelhook 1 minut later and it was cool.gsp didnt get pissed or anything, but to show you how fast gsp learns, after the month or so gsp was there john wasnt catching him as much as he did in the begining, but john clearly dominated him in pure submission wrestling and bjj.gsp is pretty good with a gi on also, like i said,it was just bjj,gi and no gi,i dont want anyone taking it the wrong way thinking that im saying john could kick gsp,s ass in the cage,im not implying that at all.gsp was there just to work on his bjj skills and nothing else.i rolled with gsp and i weighed 250 or so at that time and he threw me around ike a rag doll, destroyed me,subbed me at will and when gsp grabs you its like a oak tree came alive and these huge branches come out and squeezes the life out of ya,lol.hes a very powerful man and after he kicked my ass he came over and talked to me,said i have great potential and he thought i was a cool guy,the cool guy thing i excepted but the great potential thing was a joke in my mind,im a washed up old man just trying my best to just get through a grappling session without breaking one of my limbs off or tearing a muscle or tendon, lol.hes truely a very nice guy,one of the nicest guys youll ever come across in your life

Thanks for the share!

There's a saying in Quebec that we're the nicest people on earth, so nice, we'll let anyone invade us! Wink

GSP is not only an ambassadeur or mma, but of our homeland, he truly represents!
12  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: "UFC 95: Sanchez vs. Stevenson" ROUND BY ROUND UPDATES LIVE SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!!!! on: February 21, 2009, 08:48:14 PM
How was the stoppage of the skycraper justified?
Are they going to stop a fight because someone goes to the ground?
What was that? No K.O., just a guy who goes to the ground... Is this mma or what?
13  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: GSP's training methods on: February 19, 2009, 09:45:05 PM
no i do not I just travel alot. and have alot of friends

note  not as many as onlyme but I have a few

nice,
I trained a bit at his gym a while ago but he wasn't known, I don't even know if I saw him... he probably was too young (man, that gives me a shock... I'm old at 32... !!!)

anyway, I've trained most of my life in marginal places, parks with friends or weird styles, like aikibudo, taichiquan chen, pencack silat... sometimes i wish I'd done some pro things but... I guess I'm happied in anthropology and philosophy... to each his own! Smiley
14  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: GSP's training methods on: February 19, 2009, 11:13:46 AM
I tried what GSP does with is penis for a month, from a full moon to a full moon, and I got to say it works... it may be the simplest best tip ever!

If you don't know what I'm talking about, GSP did nothing with his penis... Nothing, for a while, before facing BJ...
15  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: BJ "The Whiny Bitch" at it again.......... on: February 18, 2009, 02:45:49 PM
Imagine for a minute how big a justice trouble he would have had he killed GSP! Litteraly kill him...

Him saying he'd go to the death was the stupidest thing a modern fighter can say... man, we're not savages anymore, damn!
16  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Controversy: B.J. Penn Files Complaint That Georges St. Pierre Used Vaseline on: February 14, 2009, 11:26:36 PM
Comes right off with a wet towel. Especially if someone is watching you

yeah, that sounds real scientific!
17  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Controversy: B.J. Penn Files Complaint That Georges St. Pierre Used Vaseline on: February 13, 2009, 05:46:10 PM
Then how do you get it off, a complex towel?

A wouldn't the man in the red jacket said something? He's part of the commission.

you need a towel with soap, yes, I'm sorry if that's annoying but just try it, rub your hands with vaseline and test how easily it gets off...

I thought this was " propos"

19  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: "Inside MMA" poll results: Who can beat Fedor Emelianenko? WHO DO YOU THINK CAN? on: February 13, 2009, 01:43:58 PM
Right now, I think only Frank Mir "could" beat him...

As for the new guys coming in, Cheick Kongo and Cain Velasquez could become interesting enough, but that's relative to many factors of experience and evolution...

Arlovsky prooved that guys that come strong like Lesnar and so many hewavyweights can't face a guy who slowmos time and touches the button after "looking" in trouble...

Fedor is the only guy I know who avoids that much punishment and is still so precise in giving some... Machida may be similar to that, but needs to back out a lot to avoid the shot, while Fedor is always close to you while avoiding the shots...
20  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Controversy: B.J. Penn Files Complaint That Georges St. Pierre Used Vaseline on: February 09, 2009, 02:47:13 PM
I'm not sure what's your point but we all know any oiled substance won't go off easily with a simple towel...

Anyway...
21  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Controversy: B.J. Penn Files Complaint That Georges St. Pierre Used Vaseline on: February 08, 2009, 11:18:01 PM
So is using recreational drugs, cheating on your taxes, stealing cable and driving drunk. If the outcome of the fight would have been the same anyway, who gives a flying fuck? Thats like penalizing a hitter in baseball for having a corked bat after he gets an RBI when the pitcher walks in the winning run with the bases loaded and the batter doesnt have to swing. It had zero impact on the outcome. It is irrelevant.

Not to mention the fact the vaseline was taken away after one round.

actually, it could have chaged a lot because BJ is very good with tight submissions

but nobody seems to realize that this greasy thing could simply be his natural skin... all the other ones whinning might just be facing a guy who's skin is greasier which is, in this sport, a natural advantage against grapplers! Wink
22  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: GSP's training methods on: February 08, 2009, 11:10:10 PM
I have something to say. i know george personally not too well but we have me before and rolled a few times. When I was asked to roll with GSP I couldnt understand how this would help him  he fights at 170 and I weigh atleast 290 on a good day however  fighing up hill is what makes fighting bj penn a walk in the park. When you feel the power of GSP he is as strong as any 250lb bb

a very interesting comment!

you live in Montreal?

looking forward to rampage jardine and serra hughes!
24  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Controversy: B.J. Penn Files Complaint That Georges St. Pierre Used Vaseline on: February 03, 2009, 12:15:56 PM
Fighters who claim GSP greases:

Mayhem Miller
Sherk
Serra
Penn

Would it have made a difference, not so much.  GSP was dominating the stand up and could have eventually finished it here.

Of course GSP was dominating, but could he have been submitted by Serra or Penn had he not been greased? That's possible... In the end, it's not about BJ or Serra or GSP, but it's about being clear on the rules and applying them... Whatever comes out of this, at least people will be more careful in the future and won't be able to blame it on a stupid mistake...
25  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: B.J. Penn Mulling Retirement After Loss to Georges St Pierre on: February 02, 2009, 10:18:52 PM
he'll make at least 200K just defending his title, even if he looses, so unless he really doesn't want this money, he'll be back
