Catholics are Christians.
I can't agree w/this statement as a blanket statement. There ARE Catholics who are Christians, just as there are Methodists who are Christians, etc. But not ALL Catholics are Christians (same w/Methodists etc). If someone is depending on Catholic tradition (confessing to a priest, last rites, praying to Mary [a dead person]) or affiliation to "get them into heaven," they're not Christian. Christians are those who believe they need a savior and have accepted such in Jesus Christ. NO rituals or traditions needed! Only Jesus

It was supposed to be implemenented 2,000 years ago by the roman empire but it never was.
Attributing the prophecy of the Revelation has been something that people have been doing for hundreds of years. They've been predicting the "end times" for hundreds of years and every time they have failed to predict it. Revelation is a often misunderstood book that was NOT supposed to be applied to 1900 years after it was written.
I've never heard it was to be implemented 2000 years ago by the roman empire? Where does it say that? Oh..I see. You're against religions that require "acts" to be accepted. Like repenting your sins? Like accepting Jesus as your savior? Oh no..You aren't talking about those acts now are you? I don't consider those "acts." I believe when you " believe on Jesus as Savior" you are saved. An "act" would be something like baptism or performing certain rituals....none of which can save you or keep you saved. "Even our faith is a gift of God."

You're arguing from emotion/feeling here.
"The bible is true because it makes me feel good to beleive it's true!" This isn't a logical statement.
It's like me saying..
"The bible is false because of the feeling I get when I don't believe it's true."
It isn't logical.
I guess I missed the part where Migs stipulated that my answer must be "LOGICAL according to anyone." First of all...The details of Jesus's birth were made up from earlier pagan myths. The virgin conception existed in pagan mythology THOUSANDS of years before it was even written in the old testament.
Second of all..Have you ever heard of the term "Self fulfilling prophecy"? The authors of the New testament made it seem like jesus was the messiah and then attributed those events to his life. Miracles,Virgin conception..ect. You can't believe they're true just because the authors of the N.T. claim they are!
I'm surprised that someone of your "google-prowess" can't find anything that authenticates the actual and true life of Jesus Christ. Is this a joke? Don't tell me you're "one of those people". Judgement day fanatics! The "mark of the Beast" comes from the Roman empire. Nero Caesar was "the beast". 666 is hebrew numericals for "nero Caesar". In hebrew(and greek) numbers represent letters and when added up to 666 letters that are spelled out are "Nwr Qsr"(Latin form of Nero Caesar) You're saying this because you don't want to be included among the rest of the thousands of religions. Christianity has rituals BTW. Uh, no. I'm not joking about the possibility/probability of the "Mark of the Beast." Enjoy your "numbers representations, etc." but be prepared if you're still living during the implemenation of the system. But there is one thing you're right about....I DON'T want to be included among the rest of the thousands of religions..,.especially those that require certain "acts" and "works" TO be included and accepted.

although those might be valid points, there must be other reasons. How many have that inate feeling of being with God in their daily lives and why? Im not knocking those that believe in religion, but just curious as to their views. Why do they think that their religion is the one?
Hi Migs. Thank you for your questions and respectful attitude. In my opinion, the acceptance of Jesus as Savior results in a feeling of tremendous freedom and joy, knowing that my sins..past, present and future are forgiven. Does this mean it's OK for me to live like crap? No. I believe we get disciplined for sins even if we are forgiven. I believe the bible is correct mainly because of how my feelings and life changed when I accepted Jesus as Savior. But for more empirical reasons, I'd have to point to the 100% accuracy of bibical prophecy. Details of Jesus' birth, life and death are covered in the Old Testament. And I can't remember what the chances are of someone fulfilling all of those as He did, but I think it's something like one in one quadrillion. In addition, there is prophecy that has yet to be fulfilled, such as (among other things) the "Mark of the Beast" system where a person will not be able to buy or sell w/o the "Mark" but we do have the technology at present. Sometime I'll post more later on this. All that being said, I don't really consider belief in the bible being true as a "religion." To me, and "religion" is something man-made with different rituals one must follow to gain or attain salvation. Christianity is more of a belief IMO.

happened about 20 mins ago (low carbs to blame?)
training back....finishing up with some stiff-armed cable pulldowns into my third set, headphones on....sweating like a pig gym bag water bottle right by cable crossover i was using.......... walked a few inches (it seemed) away guy comes over the other side .......starts doing tricep pushdowns on it
right here is where you say, "I'm using that but I'm almost done." And yes low carbs can make you want to scream at things in the gym that usually don't bother you. LIke people that talk to you expecting an answer when you are working extremely hard and trying to focus. ............Even if they try to be polite and not talk to you while you're doing your set, but you see them out of the corner of your eye......waiting, waiting, waiting till your done so they can talk to you can make you want to scream........ My answer to that is, close your eyes so you can't see them standing there and finish your set. Seriously. It helps to try to remember that most people mean no harm

i watch Michael try and choke down a meal every 3 hours and it sometimes looks painful. Nope. You're going to be doing the same thing and you're going to be thrilled for your next meal. In fact, if you get rice, you'll eat the very last grain. If you get oatmeal, when your spoon or fork won't pick up the last "little bit" in the bowl, you'll turn your fork around and use the handle to get it all. Good times ahead!!!

If we are not careful by restricting people who can belong to a church based on whether or not they follow the bible 100% might leave us with a empty church.
"MIGHT" leave us w/an empty church is too gracious. If we restricted people who can belong to a church based on whether or not they follow the bible 100% we WOULD ABSOLUTELY be left with an empty church. No one is capable of even following the 10 Commandments.

The initial claim was "Jesus helps you spell". Me being an atheist, If the intial assertion were indeed true would NOT be expected to spell.
The initial claim was "Jesus CAN help you spell." And He can help atheists spell too P.S. He told me to tell you it's spelled: C.O.L.L.E.A.G.U.E. just messing w/ya

Yes english IS my 2nd language.
I didn't ask you if english was your 2nd language. I asked you if you meant colleague when you posted "colegue." No harm meant in that. You asked Colossus if english was his 2nd language. ...shall we assume that you were sincere and not trying to be a smart ass about it? Meanwhile, even for those people that consider english their first language, no one is perfect in anything. .................just another reason for needing a savior!

Before we were born we had no conception of anything and didn't even exist. Now that we are alive we have conception of reality and don't want to loose it. If we die that's the end of everything in life we enjoy.
But don't you see that if someone truly believed that it "would all end" when these bodies die that there would be no regret, no conciousness to realize anything when "it was all over?" It just wouldn't matter.

I mentioned this already. This doesn't come from the bible it comes from the Apostles creed of the Nicene Creed.(300 years after the last book of the bible was written)
Matthew 1:23: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel Also covered in Luke 1:30 - 35

You may or may not find "end of everything" frightening. Maybe you do and are just arguing it to support your initial claim. Really doesn't matter.
Plenty of people do indeed find the end of consciousness frightening.
No, I would not find it frightening in the least. If I did, I would say I did. If we don't exist after death, wouldn't it be much like it was for us before we were ever born? I can't think of anything frightening about that.

The Serotonin System and Spiritual Experiences.
If there was nothing after death why would there be fear? We fear the end of our consciousness. All of the pleasures we get from this life would end. All experience would end. Nothing would be left but everlasting dreamless sleep. The concept has frightened people all throughout time. They like to imagine they live forever even after they die.
This makes absolutely no sense to me. If I truly believed that there was nothing after death, I would not fear the end of my consciousness....how would I know once I was "gone?" That's ridiculous to me. If all pleasures, experience and suffering would end, so what? What is frightening about that? Nothing.

You're limiting the power of omnipotent beings by trying to make them fit into the description in some ancient manuscripts written by goat herders 2,000 years ago!
Hmmm. Do you think every book of the bible was written by goatherders? I don't think your "detailed investigation into theology and history" was very thorough
