already been done, Slipped. there's a dude at my church that was diagnosed with late stage colon cancer a year and half ago. he didn't have insurance and was too proud to let folks from the church help him out by paying his hospital expenses. so, he never went to the doctor, just told us to pray for him. so we did....no signs of cancer in his system to this day. mere coincendence you say? ok, then how about another lady at our church who had been told to get her funeral arrangements in order. the doctors were baffled and said that removing a malignant tumor would prove to be too risky and fatal. people from the church prayed for her, she was saying her good-byes and everything. she goes back to the doctor and the tumor had taken a totally different form - a form that would enable the docs to remove it. she's good to go now. be careful what you ask for, Slipped! My workout partner's husband is friend w/a guy who was diagnosed w/cancer...............people from his church and bible study group as well as others prayed for him and he did not need the surgery they planned as he is now completely cancer free. There are so many stories like this......prayer is not futile.

Hi Johnny. Thanks for answering questions.
I have another for you that I asked before but didn't see your response if you did answer my question.
You implied that Christianity and religion are nonsense on another thread.
My question is:
Why do you spend so much time thinking about and posting about Christianity and religion if you believe they are nonsense?

1.Where does it say only "God" can be sinless in the jewish bible?
2.When did Jesus claim he was sinless?
3.How is jesus being sinless(assuming he even said he was) imply he is God?
Why do you want to use the bible as a reference when you think it's hogwash? John 8:46-47 "Can any of you prove me guilty of sin?"John 17:5 "And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began."

i could rape your mum , kill your little sister..rape the body and then years later accept jesus christ into my heart... and gleefully go to heaven It's called Grace Toxy. It's hard for our minds to get around it, but Grace makes it possible. I have a friend who would always "argue" the Jeffrey Dahmer aspect....she couldn't accept that if he got saved that he got to go to heaven. In fact, she used to be an atheist, but later, she came to the realization that she doesn't know everything. She eventually became a believer. It seems weird and unfair to us, but our ways are not always His ways.

Why only pro religious sticky's? Haven't been requested to have something else be a sticky.... The prayer request sticky question won't be one for long; probably less than a few days. Would you feel better if I made a thread with "Johnny Apollo" in the title a sticky? Lighten up Francis it'll be OK

The trinity is a difficult concept. But if Jesus wasn't God, how did He live a completely sinless life? I believe he was God incarnate, thus man AND God. God through His Holy Spirit allowed Mary (a human) to give birth to Jesus. So Jesus was both God and human. It's like 2 human parents create (and one give) birth to human children. 2 dog "parents" create a dog. A lion and a tiger create a liger.... Jesus' father was God and His mother was mary, thus He was both God and human. That's the way I see it anyway

Toxy, War-Horse's post is great...here's an even shorter explanation of the difference: Jews (in gen) don't believe Jesus was/is the Messiah. Christians do. And like War-Horse said, thanks for being respectful and wanting to learn stuff I've got a lot of questions for haidar and Dan-O.....but I'll start threads on those later...got to get to the gym...

I don't remember since It was so long ago. I went to catholic church for a short time then baptist then methodist. I don't remember the exact chain of events that led me to realizing religion is nonsense. Do you remember the exact chain of events that led you to realizing santa claus doesn't exist?
Do you mind if I ask the number of years between your "realizing religion is nonsense" and now? How old are you (only if you wish to share)? (we can always PM) As for Santa and I....I was quite a young child when Santa was really mentioned.....I never really believed in him as a person. My mom thought to tell us he was a real living person would be a lie. She told us he "represented the spirit of Christmas" or something....such as people giving gifts freely...etc. In fact I asked her about my feelings about Santa today (while thinking of your post) and she said I thought he was mean because I would see kids crying on his lap in the mall. I guess I thought people dressed up as him were being mean to them to make them cry It could probably have just his breath! .......

Hi Johnny, I just saw your post in reply to me on the GT board re: you used to be a Christian. I thought I'd continue that conversation over here on the proper board if you don't mind.
When I asked you if you had (earlier in your life) believed you were a sinner and accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior your response was that you "used to be a big Jesus Freak."
So my first question is: Back then, did you believe that you were a sinner in need of a savior, and did you accept what Jesus did by dying on the cross for your sins and rising again? Did you indeed accept Him as your savior?
****please only answer what you are comfortable with, and if you would prefer, we could PM****
