Better start buying guns and learning Krav Maga. Smiley

Nah, better to stop the problem dead in its tracks right now.

This is exactly the type of shit that causes so many problems when we decide whether or not to build more reactors.

This sounds more like another case of trying to get people to play by the rules and then "hoping" that those who don't play by the rules won't do too much harm - if that makes any sense.  It's been a long night...

Haiti was already a disaster, well before the earthquake.

Exactly.  Why cause a huge earthquake when you could probably just grease the President for a couple hundred dollars.  Cheesy

I believe that more and more now with these shitbags.  If it continues to spread in this country, there will be a clash.  Better to put it to a stop now.

5234  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Way to go Drones! on: January 31, 2010, 08:39:43 AM
I just heard that they are confirming this.

Another shitbag bites it...

Pakistan Taliban Chief Reportedly Killed in U.S. Drone Strike

The head of the Taliban in Pakistan, Hakimullah Mehsud, was killed in a U.S. drone attack, Pakistan state television reported Sunday.

The report stated Mehsud had been injured in a drone attack in the Shaktoi area January 14 and died three days later. He reportedly was buried in the village of Mamuzai in the North Waziristan region.

The Pakistani army said Sunday that it was investigating the reports.

The militant leader's death would be an important success for both Pakistan, which has been battling the Pakistani Taliban, and the U.S., which blames Mehsud for a recent deadly bombing against the CIA in Afghanistan.

The army's announcement came shortly after Pakistani state television, citing unnamed "official sources," reported that Mehsud died in Orakzai, an area in Pakistan's northwest tribal region where he was reportedly being treated for his injuries.

"We have these reports coming to us," army spokesman Gen. Athar Abbas told The Associated Press. "We are investigating whether it is true or wrong."

A tribal elder told the AP that he attended Mehsud's funeral in the Mamuzai area of Orakzai on Thursday. He said Mehsud was buried in Mamuzai graveyard after he died at his in-laws' home. The elder spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution from the Taliban.

Pakistani intelligence officials have said that Mehsud was targeted in a U.S. drone strike in South Waziristan on Jan. 14, triggering rumors that he had been injured or killed. The strike targeted a meeting of militant commanders in the Shaktoi area of South Waziristan.

Mehsud issued two audio tapes after the strike denying the rumors. But Pakistani intelligence officials told the AP on Sunday that they have confirmation that the Taliban chief's legs and abdomen were wounded in the strike.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.

Pakistani Taliban officials were not immediately available for comment, but low-level fighters have dismissed rumors of Mehsud's death in recent days as propaganda.

The drone strike that targeted Mehsud came about two weeks after a deadly suicide bombing he helped orchestrate killed seven CIA employees at a remote base across the border in Afghanistan. Mehsud appeared in a video issued after the bombing sitting beside the Jordanian man who carried out the attack.

The bomber, Humam Khalil Abu-Mulal al-Balawi, said he carried out the attack in retribution for the death of former Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud — Hakimullah Mehsud's predecessor — in a U.S. drone strike last August.

The U.S. refuses to talk about the covert CIA-run drone program in Pakistan but officials have said privately that the strikes have killed several senior Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders.

Pakistani officials publicly protest the strikes as violations of the country's sovereignty, but U.S. officials say privately they support the program, especially when it targets militants like Mehsud who the government believes is a threat to the state.

Mehsud, who has the reputation as a particularly ruthless militant, took over leadership of the Pakistani Taliban soon after Baitullah Mehsud's death.

The 28 year-old militant leader has focused most of his attacks against targets inside Pakistan, but his men have also been blamed for attacking U.S. and NATO supply convoys traveling through the country en route to Afghanistan.

Hakimullah Mehsud first appeared in public to journalists in November 2008, when he offered to take reporters in Orakzai on a ride in a U.S. Humvee taken from a supply truck headed to Afghanistan. He was the Pakistani Taliban's regional commander in the Orakzai, Khyber and Mohmand tribal areas before taking over the organization.

He has taken responsibility for a wave of brazen strikes inside Pakistan, including the bombing of the Pearl Continental hotel in the northwestern city of Peshawar last June and the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore earlier that year.

The group stepped up its attacks after the Pakistani army invaded its stronghold of South Waziristan in mid-October. More than 600 people have been killed in attacks throughout the country since the ground offensive was launched.

Authorities have said Mehsud has been behind threats to foreign embassies in Islamabad, and there is a $120,000 bounty on his head.

Some interesting stuff although I don't see artificial intelligence even coming close to matching our abilities any time in the near future.

Can't remember what it's called, but some government agency at one time was sponsoring a contest to get vehicles to drive themselves from point a to point b.  They would have navigate turns, overcome obstacles, rough terrain, etc.  There could be no human guidance once the vehicle started.  At the time, none of the vehicles could even come close to finishing the course.  I don't know if that's changed though.

The only thing priceless here is your double standard of calling people who criticize Obama sore losers, and then posting this trivia when your side lost.  Of course double standards are fairly rampant throughout the liberal community so I'm sure you can't help yourself.

Maybe try just dropping YouTube videos instead of commenting.  That would at least give the very very slight appearance of intelligence.
5238  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: The Differential Theory of Terrorism Alert Levels (Foreign Model) on: January 30, 2010, 09:36:57 AM
Things are much to serious on GB.....with TA's idiotic Mother Teresa the typical leftwing blather......I offer this.

The English are feeling the pinch in relation to recent terrorist threats and have raised their security level from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, security levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross." The English have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out. Terrorists have been re-categorized from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance." The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was in 1588 when threatened by the Spanish Armada.

The Scots raised their threat level from "Pissed Off" to "Let's get those Bastards." They don't have any other levels. This is the reason they have been used on the front line of the British army for the last 300 years.

The French government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". The only two higher levels in France are "Collaborate" and "Surrender." The rise was precipitated by a recent fire that destroyed France's white flag factory, effectively paralyzing the country's military capability.
It's not only the French who are on a heightened level of alert: Italy has increased the alert level from "Shout Loudly and Excitedly" to "Elaborate Military Posturing." Two more levels remain: "Ineffective Combat Operations" and "Change Sides."

The Germans also increased their alert state from "Disdainful Arrogance" to "Dress in Uniform and Sing Marching Songs." They also have two higher levels: "Invade a Neighbour" and "Lose".

Belgians, on the other hand, are all on holiday as usual, and the only threat they are worried about is NATO pulling out of Brussels .

The Spanish are all excited to see their new submarines ready to deploy. These beautifully designed subs have glass bottoms so the new Spanish navy can get a really good look at the old Spanish navy.

Americans meanwhile and as usual are carrying out pre-emptive strikes on all of their allies 'just in case'.

Canada doesn't have any alert levels.

    And in the southern hemisphere:
New Zealand has also raised its security levels - from "baaa" to "BAAAA". Due to continuing defense cutbacks (the airforce being a squadron of spotty teenagers flying paper aeroplanes and the navy some toy boats in the Prime Minister's bath), New Zealand only has one more level of escalation, which is "I hope Australia will come and rescue us".

Australia , meanwhile, has raised its security level from "No worries" to "She'll be al'right, mate". Three more escalation levels remain: "Crikey!', "I think we'll need to cancel the barbie this weekend" and "The barbie is cancelled". So far no situation has ever warranted use of the final escalation level.

 Cheesy Cheesy
5239  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: GOP to meet privately with lobbyists - and the circle continues... on: January 29, 2010, 03:40:10 PM
This is exactly the type of issue I worry about given the Supreme Court's most recent ruling.  If it's this bad now, on both sides, I keep projecting that it's going to be even worse when businesses can just flaunt their will in the faces of everyone.

Yes, not all lobbyists work for business, but if the one's who do have our politicians by the ear now, they'll soon have them by the dick.

And I think it's fairly obvious that the only transparency we're going to see is at next years State of the Union address when Barry tells us again that government should be transparent.
5240  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: Criminals in Haiti 'raping quake survivors and trafficking children on: January 29, 2010, 03:22:40 PM
Aren't these the same lies that were told by FEMA, BLACKWATER and the US gov during Katrina about the people of New Orleans all of which turned out to be NOT TRUE. Claims of women being raped in the superdome, robberies, gun fire (which was an attempt by Blackwater to instigate martial Law), gangs etc.. all LIES. Sad to say this is what is being said about Haiti in a time of distress like this

Good thing you're down there helping out and can bring enlightenment to the board.  I just can't imagine any criminal taking advantage of this situation.  They're all such decent people.

wow, I haven't seen people this pissed off since right before and after the election.  The venom is super-thick lately.

Nah, there's nothing venomous about calling somebody out on an obvious lie.

I'm not too thrilled with the decision either.  I think 33's made some good points about it so I've decided I need to think about it more.  Perhaps we should see how things play out in the next elections before deciding if this was good or bad?

At 46:25 he starts talking about it, the applause then starts.  At 46:51 the camera shifts and shows the Republicans SITTING.

Now, let's see if you're man enough to own up to your lie.  Typically when you can't back up your bullshit you just resort to mockery.  I'm guessing you'll run like a coward.

Then you might be better served calling yourselves something like, "Business Leaders United against Washington" or something.  I just wouldn't use the "Tea Party" moniker.  Right now it seems to have to many negative connotations.
5245  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: State of the Union on: January 28, 2010, 02:44:40 PM
Dont worry 240 - myself and 5 of my business collegues met last week and we are forming the "Bronx Tea Party".  Staten Island has one and we are going to start from the nerve center of leftism, NYC.

Dude, you've got to stay away from this Tea Party.  I told you before these clowns are not all that stable.  Going on strikes to hurt Obama doesn't make sense.  Going on some month long road trip doesn't make any sense.  Self admitted lack of national organization and no discernable leader (apparently they are looking for one - hint, hint).

Perhaps if they change some stupidity it might be a good thing.  But right now, it just doesn't seem to be a sensible thing to do.
5246  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: State of the Union on: January 27, 2010, 09:28:16 PM
Something else I found comical was his renewed call for transparency.  This was a central theme throughout his campaign, yet since he's been in office, it's been a joke.  That got a bipartisan round of applause.  They can all go fuck themselves because none of them want to give the public any transparency.
5247  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: State of the Union on: January 27, 2010, 09:23:17 PM
He's playing smart politics.

Blame Bush is not smart politics (at least not at this point in his Presidency).

Promoting spending and not spending at the same time is not smart politics.

Acting like the healthcare bill failing was due to Republicans obstructionist when it's the people who don't want it, is not smart politics.

Saying that jobs for Americans is the new #1 priority, is very smart politics.
5248  Getbig Main Boards / Politics and Political Issues Board / Re: State of the Union on: January 27, 2010, 08:59:26 PM
In the last week, he 'took on' big banking and slashed spending with this freeze.

Then, he talked about these actions and repubs sat there refusing to stand and applaud things that the moderates like.  it was a pretty shrewd move.  I think repubs who believe they're gonna win back congress in 10 months should stop counting their chickens before they hatch and not get so complacent.

Moderates support?  Are you kidding me?  It doesn't even make sense.  He's freezing some spending while trying to promote stimulus spending.  HUH?

I also noticed the Blame Bush Theme reared it's ugly head.  No shock there.
