Hey garebear, you know exactely what I'm saying. Its no secret that the dems (or in his case extream liberal) have always been weak on defence. But now he's taken it to whole other level of just not giving by protecting his own. How come Napalitano hasn't been canned yet?

The best way to pick a PT is to see the results of their clients. You guys put pt's in a bad light as a blanket statement. You pick the trainer that's the most qualified to deliver the desired results you want. Also, just because they don't look the part doesn't mean they don't know their shit. The NCAA has guidelines on when an athlete can train and when they can't. There are certain times during the pre-season that have discretionary training and the the S&C coach is not allowed to help them, meaning they can train in the college facility but the coach cannot do anything in the way of program design. That being said they usually go to a qualified outside source..that would be a PERSONAL TRAINER. They are still kids and even though they are strong as hell, they don't know the first thing about program design. My guess, and I'm not trying to be insulting, is that most that criticize the pt on here don't know the first thing about designing an EFFECTIVE program. If you can, show me. Design a program for an offseason/onseason program for football. Devon97..you don't count, I already know you can, lol!

James Owen Sullivan, 28, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes.
HUNTINGTON BEACH, California -- Police say James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, has been found dead at his home in Southern California.
Lt. John Domingo says the 28-year-old Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach.
The Orange County coroner's office is investigating the death.
Avenged Sevenfold formed in Huntington Beach in 1999 and won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. According to their MySpace page, the five-man metalcore band was working on their fifth album.
The band released a statement Monday expressing their sadness and calling Sullivan "one of the world's best drummers," and "our best friend and brother."
I live in in HB and never heard of them. He looked like a fine young man....I'm sure he died of "natural causes"

Do you have any fairly unique methods or principles you use for training athletes? Everything has been done before by someone but maybe there's a variation or combo of methods that's fairly unique to you?
Yes, my training is a bit different.

Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / PT #2 Getting the message out1 What do you stand for?
|
on: December 28, 2009, 06:55:21 PM

Your Beliefs And Values
What do you stand for? (should mirror desired outcome)
Mine as an example:
MY training systems along with strongman training is the BEST for developing strength / power athletes.
In order to improve and get REAL results you have to TRAIN HARD (we never use the word "workout")
I HATE fitness gyms and lies about fitness (Our tag line is NO GIMMICKS, NO BS, NO FRILLS JUST HARD WORK)
Principles: character, food, body, service, faith.
You can see in the message I deliver who I'm trying to target. The average "200lb soccer mom" as stormshadow put it, will more than likely be turned off by my message, but the athlete or the "weekend warrior" who still plays hard on some club team might appeal to this along with high school coaches who want their team to train in the offseason like football or anyone male or female to isn't afraid of a challenge and wants to work hard.
Develop your message to suit YOU. JNN mentioned that he was a "Trophy" trainer, IMO that's a great angle as long as your honest with your clients and your training methods work.

Coach,
Before I started my online biz last year I did the sports performance training/ general public training thing. ( Sent you my newsletter 2 years ago if you may remember and you liked it) Any way the top 4 biggest obsticals I faces when trying to get student athletes to sign up were the following:
1) We can't afford it!
I will get into that later, but it can be done!
2) John just doesn't have time between basketball practice and winter baseball!
I have that problem as well, since foot ball (high school) just ended a few weeks ago most of our kids went right into basketball and started tournaments already. What you have to do is sincerely tell the parents that the kid should have at least 2 days of strength training to reduce the chance of injury during in season play and make time for them even if it's a weekend.
3) Jimmy already lifts weights at school!
Maybe so, but most of the coachs I've seen in high school know very little about S&C. I know you're a good trainer and know your shit. You have to convince the parent that this is what you do for a living.
4)Suzie is injured and can't workout ( Dr.'s orders!
Dr's orders are Dr's orders and we are in no position to overrule that. But what you can do is have them come to you for post physical therapy for sports related injuries.

Hey stormshadow, last I checked this was a bodybuilding and fitness site. How about go and post on an engineering site about what you've done instead of coming on here to try belittle someone for trying to help others. If you don't like what I have to say then f**k off!

JNN, I guess that's the difference between a gimmick and a nitch. We are results driven not money driven. We expect our clients to work hard and try. We don't want people just for the money so they can say they have "personal trainer" just for status reasons, those are the ones that will give the least amount of effort and make you look bad. I don't care what kind of shape the client is in as long as he/she puts out the effort and makes progress, they're walking advertisements for you and if they look the same 3 months from when they started its either the training methods are not working or they aren't putting out the effort. If its they are not not putting out the effort, then why have them around?

For what it's worth coach, I'm interested in your PT advices. I have thought about trying it someday for extra money. Also what city do you live in? Maybe if I am ever in the area I can stop by to train.
