1  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: The effects of different rep ranges on: December 25, 2009, 09:32:36 AM
I have always heard that the legs (quads and hams) can effectively grow in the 20+ range and that one should always train calves in the high rep range. Truth to these?

I take a vitamin D supplement!
3  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Who has tried USPLabs Jack3d? on: December 18, 2009, 07:42:54 AM
I was wondering who has tried this product because I recently purchased it and this is one of the best pre-workout products I have ever tried. I have previously tried NO-Xplode, White Blood, Purple Wraath, and Green Bulge (Controlled Labs Stack), Xpand, Superpump 250, Trac, naNO Vapor, and Shock Therapy in the past,  but over the past year I have only taken protein, a multi, zma, and some creatine monohydrate. So maybe that has something to do with the effects that I feel from Jack3d. However, I can say that after a full week of use, I am most impressed with Jack3d.

Does anyone else have any experiences with it?
4  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: True Protein on: December 14, 2009, 11:22:03 AM
trueprotein is a lot like protein factory. Both offer similar products. Protein Factory is a little more expensive, but trueprotein has more expensive shipping. I've had good experiences with both companies.
5  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Oatmeal on: December 14, 2009, 11:17:01 AM
I use cranberries or golden raisins with fruit preserve or coffee creamer. I know coffee creamer sounds odd but sometimes you are in the mood for "Marshmallow Mocha" oatmeal.
6  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: "Food Inc." Film review by David Mendosa on: December 14, 2009, 11:14:18 AM
Eye opening for anyone who hasn't been exposed to factory farming or how food is manufactured in America. It is well-worth watching because it also touches over the other facets of lives that American food production negatively touch (i.e. farmers). Food regulation and health will most likely be an emerging forefront issue in the political sphere, so I would recommend this film on the basis of that alone. Good documentary!
7  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Organic food is no healthier, 160 scientific papers over 50 years on: August 03, 2009, 10:47:42 AM
There is a book by Joe Schwarcz called "An Apple a Day: The Myths, Misconceptions, and Truths about the foods we eat". In it there is a section on organic versus commercial foods. It was an interesting chapter and it compiled a lot of the science that has been out on the issue. To paraphrase, there will always be small nutritional differences between ALL fruits and vegetables because the nutrient content of the soil can always differ. Also, depending where you stand on the use of pesticides and other chemicals, organic foods have none - if only negligible amounts - of these. However, there is a large crowd that believes that these chemicals pose no threat to humans. Soooo, do some organic foods really warrant the almost double price tag in some cases? I guess the answer is if it helps you sleep better at the end of the day.
8  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: 440 lb. Skull-Crusher: on: May 26, 2009, 07:09:42 AM
That is impressive, no doubt. But it looks like he is doing some horribly awful form of bench pressing then actually doing skull crushers
9  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Pre and Post workout nutirtion on: May 12, 2009, 01:30:01 PM
How is this for energy and recovery...?

Preworkout: I eat a banana, and I take about 10 grams of BCAA and a B-Vitamin based "energy" drink (a little effervescent tablet).

then

Postworkout: I have 50 grams of protein, and I mix 30 grams of carbs (80% rice based & 20% malto) with 8oz of pineapple juice and a serving of Creapure creatine.

11  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: whats the worse meal you ever eaten? on: April 21, 2009, 10:35:50 PM
At a local bar/restaurant they have a 26oz burger. I ate that and a plate of fries... and then had to force myself to vomit later in the night from stomach pain. It was the biggest burger I had ever seen...
12  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: beef protein isolate on: April 21, 2009, 01:01:10 PM

Bullshit. As much as I like Trueprotein's stuff (I order 10lbs from them every month or so), they are NOT the first to the market with this.
Protein Factory, I think, has had this for a few years. I've ordered it from them numerous times.

Trueprotein's and Proteinfactory's products are very different. Just by looking at the description you can see. But also check out the AA breakdown and nutrition info. You can see that they are both very different products. Also, even if they were the same product, one costs $35/lb and the other $11/lb

measured at 24

It is easy to get 24" arms! All you need are a few simple things: a positive attitude, to say your prayers, some multivitamins, and python-powder!
15  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: to use wrist straps or not? on: April 18, 2009, 09:12:33 AM
I use straps on all of my back work even the lighter sets.
I feel it allows me to use more back and less biceps.

I also use straps on all back workouts because I feel it less in my biceps when I use straps

18  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: my shoulders just wont grow on: April 07, 2009, 10:41:44 AM
The best improvements I ever made were with reasonable volume, using giant sets.

Start with seated barbell press - 4 sets of 12/10/8/8, just to get the blood flowing, then:

Giant set:
Dumbell front raises x 12,
Barbell front raises x10,
Dumbell side laterals x 12,
Upright rows x 10,
Dumbell rear laterals x 12,
Behind back upright rows x 10.

Rest 2 mins then do it all again, for 3 cycles.

Then finish with seated barbell press - 3 sets of 15.

Might not work for everyone, but I did this for about 6 weeks and I saw quite noticeable results.

This would be a good switch-up but I'd probably have to go really light because I think my shoulders would die!
19  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: are flies underratted ? on: April 07, 2009, 10:35:20 AM
Does anyone not do flat bench and just do flies? Or does anyone make their main exercise flies? ...I know when I do flat bench press it usually hurts my shoulder and I don't see a lot of good results from it so I was predominately doing incline, but should I switch to making flies my main movement? Thanks!
20  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: "Lower chest", do you hit it? on: April 07, 2009, 10:29:15 AM
really??  Undecided but the experts of bodybuilding.com agree with me:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/ridgely8.htm

I think two said the same thing... one said keep your legs back and the other said keep your body in "front" of you as opposed to being behind. If you keep your legs back your body is naturally going to go forward. No need to argue!
21  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: After month of hit and miss... The Ultimate training split is here. on: April 07, 2009, 10:22:59 AM
Quick question: You do biceps on day 1 and 6. What kind of workout do you do for arms on day 6 (since there is only 1 day of rest between the next arm workout and you are just coming off of a back day)? Also, do you only do biceps or do you do triceps again as well? I have been laid off from a surgery and wasn't allowed to lift for 6 weeks... it is getting close to when I can get back into the gym!
22  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Tribulus on: April 06, 2009, 08:25:28 PM
I was taking some but I didn't really see results... maybe I didn't take a high enough dosage.
23  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Bcaa on: April 06, 2009, 08:21:59 PM
I've noticed more results from spending the money I'd spend on BCAA and buying a higher quality protein. BCAA can be expensive!!!!
