2  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / UK Getbig Bodybuilding and More / Re: Gear not as good as it used to be... on: July 29, 2014, 02:38:36 PM
It started going down hill around the late 90's when the law changed.
up until then i could get all the pharma gear i wanted.

Also noticed another decline before the china Olympics,
IIRC the USA / FDA sent teams over to help stop / shut down
the supply chains.

As has already been stated too many UG labs out there making
poor quality gear, or 1 good batch & then down grade.

I can clearly remember the effects of sust from organon out
of napp labs in cambridge, and proper deca plus the 1.5ml
76mg parabolan !!
If only could get them Now.

I would keep a home here for visits in the spring & summer.
A lot of beautiful places in the uk
Would also have homes in canary islands, southern California,
for the long dark damp winter months.
Have always struggled with them. Cry

assisted just over TRT dosages mainly, bodyweight wise not a lot, around 8-10lbs lean bodyweight.

Goes to show how much of a difference a lean quality
gain of tissue can make to a already lean physique.
10lbs is a good increase.
8  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / UK Getbig Bodybuilding and More / Re: Gaining muscle in a calorific deficit. on: July 27, 2014, 10:33:40 PM
I would say overall yes, I have been back training properly since around Sept 2011
Here is a photo from January 2012 and another from October 2013 , I stay in shape year round so am always around maintenance cals (or I would be fat) and I diet on pretty low cals.
So overall I would say Im likely in a deficit
I haven't made huge gains but Im sure I have made improvements from being 47 to 49 years old.

That's a good amount of added muscle while staying lean.
was this achieved assisted or unassisted, Either way
a very good gain.
How much bodyweight have you added from the 1st to the 2nd pic.
9  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / UK Getbig Bodybuilding and More / Re: Gaining muscle in a calorific deficit. on: July 27, 2014, 10:27:24 PM
It simply does not work that way my friend, your definitions of "deficit" and "surplus" are part if a far more complicated metabolic and psychological process involving highly complicated functions in terms of what the body does when you digest food, how its broken down into various components and what it does with that in terms of fat loss, fat gain or repairing damaged muscle tissue as well as many other processes. I watched a youtube video on this once, I will try to dig it up I can't remember what the name of the cycle was "Krebs cycle" or possibly something else I think, but its very complicated to say the least.

Interesting you should bring up this subject because it's a conversation I recently had with my endocrinologist when I met with him a couple of weeks back to review some blood works I had done and we got talking about nutrition and diet because I told him that one of the side effects of me going on my test cycle was a huge increase in appetite which I couldn't seem to control.

Not to digress but I also downloaded and read Gal and No Ones diet book and am a fan of No One's training methods so was interested in having endocrinologists view point on the matter.

Anyway getting to the point I asked my endocrinologist this very specific question.

"Doc do you think it's ever possible to add muscle tissue when in a caloric deficit"

He gave me a very complicated 15 minute explanation of the cycle I mentioned above (i forget the name) and he went to describe many different hormonal and PHYSIOLOGICAL process that occur with regards to what is required to add muscle tissue discussing the various roles of protein, carbs and fats and how essentially below a certain threshold it was simply not physiologically possible which seemed to be his conclusion.

I am not going to pretend to even understand half of what he said, he discussed the role of how protein turns to carb, the role of leptin, ghrelin, ph function in the body and tons of other complicated shit that just went right over my head.

In short his conclusion was for bodybuilding purposes you should never go below 200 grams of protein, no less than 100grams of Carbs or below 2000 calories when dieting and that those numbers need to be much higher if focusing on putting on muscle mass and what a complicated physiologically taxing process it is for the body to do, nutrition being only part of the equation.

I will see if I can get hold of the video or ask him what the name of the process was again because it will answer your question far more succinctly than I can.

Just giving you a flavor of the complexities involved on the subject.

Hope this helps

I would think that should be Physiological not psychological,

lol

None of these clowns could hold a candle to today's elite. Idiots on here again mistaking poor photo and video quality with "grayniness" and "quality muscle".

Having seen the pro's in the 80's & 90's & some of them in 2000's
i would say several of the top men from the 80's & 90's + of course
ronnie coleman would do well against the current top pro's.
That's not taking anything away from the current top pro's.
Clearly the likes of phil heath at the olympia looks very good.
As we don't have a time machine it is pure speculation as to
just how good or bad the yesteryear pro's would compare.

13  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Online rants, anti-government radicals fuel fear of U.S. cop killings on: July 16, 2014, 03:07:02 PM
1. why should the police be treated differently to general public. A crime is a crime is it not regardless of who commits it.
The punishment should be the same.

I disagree. If an officer commits a crime he or she should be held to a higher standard and the consequences more severe

2. Do you truly believe that the general public are not being made criminals by ever increasing laws regarding every aspect
of every day life.

if you define a speeder as a criminal then yes, and some laws I certainly don't see any need for. But some new laws are created because there are new ways to harm others.

3. Do police ever cover up for each other. police investigating police, really like that is a very unbiased system that is going to work.
do you really have faith in that.

speaking for my department, I have faith in it. We have a civilian Police Monitor office that works in conjunction with the I.A. investigators to make sure the citizens complaints are taken seriously. I can't speak for other departments but I believe there have been instances of cover up

4. police never lie, fabricate evidence, with hold evidence, steal, beat or murder people.

some have, certainly

No matter how big or small the percentage in the police service is (as in the general public) they need routing out and dealing with.
not side lining, covering up, or excuses.

we agree on this

I see it as you sir who cannot or will not accept that there is some thing wrong.
Hence you are part of the problem.

I see you haven't been reading my posts if you have concluded that

You have completely ignored or tried to run rough shod over so many very accurate and good posts.
Not once acknowledging there is a problem.

Again.. you apparently haven't read what I have written

How do you manage to get that....
I have not read or understood your posts.

As you have very begrudgingly had to agree with all my points
although trying all the time to defend & minimise police actions
when they are wrong.
Did you not read OMR post about I.A in New York & how they have
been superseded as they are not trust worthy.

Also no response to my last quote about police caused deaths V terrorist caused deaths.
not surprising really.

I think we can concluded that you have admitted that there are issues with the police service
even if you see them as minor problems & we see them as big problems.

Thank you for your admissions & agreement.
No matter how small or begrudging,
I see that as a step in the right direction.

And yes i am some one who has witnessed & suffered at the hands
of police malpractice.
Thank fully some of them were brought to account.
14  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Online rants, anti-government radicals fuel fear of U.S. cop killings on: July 15, 2014, 06:44:04 PM
I appreciate that's your opinion. I think you're way off base. We can agree to disagree. But let me respond in like manner to perhaps illustrate how your post looks to me;

The only problem is, most citizens are guilty. They lie, cheat, steal and when they get caught they whine about consequences. They want the protection of the police, they want police to enforce the laws but only for other people, not them. They hate being told no when they want to do something illegal and so they cry and point fingers at the cops because even as children, they resented their parents, teachers, anyone in authority and view the police as the people telling them they can't do whatever they want.

We most certainly disagree. sir

Let Me tell you how your post looks / reads to Me & Many others.

Lets skirt around the issue that some police are Bang out of order
& blame the Public for being at fault and causing all the problems.

Now let me say first off I believe that the public & the police should have the same level of punishment for the same crime
unless it is an abuse of power or position then it should be greater, as in any job where they are abused.

Also that a scum-bag, bully, murderer is the same no matter what job they do.

I am in no way trying to protect or make excuses for them what is wrong is wrong.

I hope this is clear enough for you too not misconstrue.

please deal with the issues raised by people on here,
maybe even answer these questions

1. why should the police be treated differently to general public. A crime is a crime is it not regardless of who commits it.
The punishment should be the same.

2. Do you truly believe that the general public are not being made criminals by ever increasing laws regarding every aspect
of every day life.

3. Do police ever cover up for each other. police investigating police, really like that is a very unbiased system that is going to work.
do you really have faith in that.

4. police never lie, fabricate evidence, with hold evidence, steal, beat or murder people.

No matter how big or small the percentage in the police service is (as in the general public) they need routing out and dealing with.
not side lining, covering up, or excuses.

I see it as you sir who cannot or will not accept that there is some thing wrong.
Hence you are part of the problem.
You have completely ignored or tried to run rough shod over so many very accurate and good posts.
Not once acknowledging there is a problem.

We all know there are problems & some big problems with some people in society.
only not anyone in the police.

I may be wrong with this one,
Isn't it that you are 8 times more likely to Die in the hands of police,
than you are from a terrorist attack... yet look at the ridiculous level of security at airports.
15  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Recovery from Hernia Surgery on: July 15, 2014, 03:09:57 PM
Essentially complete- 10 months later.  Squats back up.  I haven't deadlifted,  and even pulling the heavy shrug barbell into position is a bit dicey. But poundages back to my usual realm- at 54 now that's a bit unusual, but I am into weight for FORM so I will take it gladly.  Condition- ie fat percentage is crap, even on a conservative menu, but I have a year, lots of Anavar, and a Costco card for chicken breast in bulk.  Really mulling over GH now,  I am leaning towards doing it,  but I have doubts. I may use it for 6 months up to the show.  I have used various prescribed anabolics, but honestly can't assess what regimen would suit me. I am
usually on the conservative side in diet and drugs. I don't fear hard work.  I do not want to do something irresponsible and stupid. I do want to achieve something more. Peace.  Input is welcome. Be advised I tend to be irritable, lol!

I had a umbilical hernia repaired last year at age 53.
was back into gym after 2wks some very light movements
were possible. back to full on training after approx 3mnths.
Heavy squatting a bit longer & the exercise  that caused most
problem in terms of feeling the repaired area was heavy one arm rows.
As for taking steroids / GH why not if it's the route you want to go
Just gather as much info before hand.

PM me if you wish to discuss this privately.

There is no way to escape the pain. You just have to live with it. at 57 and training for over 35 years my shoulders are fried. You have to learn how to train smarter. less weight, higher reps, slow concentric and eccentric movements and gear.

X2.

I do at least 10min rowing, bike, cross trainer etc
Before lifting, keep myself covered up & warm
during training & pyramid up in weight.
Also i do a lot of stretching / flexibility work.

Sucks getting older. 54 tomorrow.
Have done many sports Boxing, martial arts.
Powerlifting & Bodybuilding.
It all helps & it is all wear & tear on your Body
It's worth it Though.. Smiley

last year the Mr O was impressive I think.

97 was so-so (maybe it was the lighting, or the pics I saw, maybe they were retouched.. I dunno), 98? eh.. 99 was ok for the top 4-5, after that? eh.  Embarrassed

Yes last year was good.
As you say a lot depends on the lighting
& the quality of the photo's.

Over here in the uk a lot of the dry, grainy
type look is in the Men's classic class's
And the 80's 90's & some in 100kg
that look is very rare in the superheavy weight class.

they operate when the variable speed limit is active

they are set at 12 mph over the limit

12mph over the limit, That's handy to know.
Thanks.
19  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: 770lbs raw bench claimed but guess what...... on: July 15, 2014, 02:24:45 PM
Strong bencher.
A 350kg bench though not likely from that video.

He struggled to lock out the 280kg & needed the
spotter to help lock out the 300kg.
he didn't do it all himself.

Still an impressive amount to bench press.
20  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: English Birmingham knowing people on: July 15, 2014, 02:07:19 PM
I went to Liverpool yesterday and flew down the M42 ignoring the stupid "variable speed limit"  Roll Eyes signs. Now some ones told me theres cameras in the gantry things. Is this true? I was bombing it. As the sooner i could get to Liverpool the better.

yes generally there are speed camera's in the overhead gantry's.

They operate as the normal speed camera's do, When the speed
limit is flashing in the signs.
You would get the double flash going off if it was switched on.

18yrs on will this years top 3 at MrOlympia match that quality look.

22  Getbig Main Boards / General Topics / Re: Islamic extremist Scum on: July 14, 2014, 05:39:34 PM
Some people hate eastern europeans coming to the UK for the work but this islamic scum with absolutely different culture seems to be OK for many. Tell me what do you think is better, white poles or nigerians, chinese, pakistani, indians. When you love dark skinned cocks you have to deal with the consequences.

I still dont fucking get why Europe needs blacks, indians, turks and others when we have milions of our own young white people capable of work.

I would much rather have poles than muslims.
The white eastern European's generally have a
good work ethic & similar outlook too.
Plus they also don't like muslims or should i say
extreme muslims & wont put up with their crap.

24  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Online rants, anti-government radicals fuel fear of U.S. cop killings on: July 14, 2014, 03:57:35 PM
This has been happening for awhile.
You have to take into account the mentality and mental state of the people who are joining the police service and the training or lack there of as well.
When many are being spit out of the academies as fast as they can, that has consequences. Then, there is the fact that the citizenry are also at fault---the culture of "I can do what I want, because 'I can'" and add that same mentality to some of the people who join police force as well.

You have a spiralling problem...

Yes very true.
The police service does have a duty of care,
And they are meant to serve and protect the public.
Although some of the public may not necessarily
deserve it.
The police are in a position of trust & and to some
extent privilege so their behaviour should also
reflect this, And consequently the punishment if
they abuse their position.
And this is clearly not Happening.
25  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Online rants, anti-government radicals fuel fear of U.S. cop killings on: July 14, 2014, 02:58:43 PM

HOWEVER, there has been a very definite shift in the police across the country towards a more militaristic type attitude and the firepower to go with it..

Also there has been a shift with more fuck ups than ever as far as mistreatment of civilians goes, kickong in doors of wrong houses and shooting the owners when they prepare to defend themselves from the unknown and unlawful intrusion...

They are being held to a different standard than the citizens they police.

If anything they should be held to a HIGHER standard of conduct with harsher punishments, as they're supposed to be setting the example, not the ones dealing out punishment for laws they dont follow themselves.

If they knew they would go to jail and rot for the rest of their life they may probably hesitate a little longer before deciding to shoot the old man reaching for his cane as the officers break down his door with automatic weapons and no identification beforehand.

Why can we see & know this & Them in charge of the police cannot.
Very clearly double standards or are we considered lesser people
than them.
Lets hope this situation is rectified asap, Before the public en-mass
do it for them.
That is not what i am advocating, only it may be a last resort.
