I have heard that it is best not to train legs within 1 week of a show. Why is this and is that a good rule, or should it be two weeks or 3-4 days before the show (as I have also heard)? Thanks.
I am there, too. I did my college's bodybuilding show three times, then medical school and residency took its toll and I ballooned up to 220. I was disgusted with the way I looked and felt so I recommitted. I am going to do a show in October, which will be two days after my 34th birthday. I am 5'9" or so and weigh 178 now. I will likely be onstage in the 160s. I know, that's small, but you dance with who brung you. I am making the most of my limited genetics. Anyway, I think it can be done if the commitment is there.
I made this today when I was craving something sweet. It's pretty solid for a precontest meal (just over 9 weeks out).
Mix 1 1/2 cups of ricotta cheese with 1/2-1 cup of blueberries and 3 (or more) packs of artificial sweetener. Top with 1/4 ounce crushed almonds mixed with 1/2 cup of crushed Fiber 1.
