Is it supposed to happen?

Quote
Velasquez and Werdum are now tentatively scheduled to headline the UFC's debut journey into Mexico this November, a bout with local blockbuster potential considering Velasquez's Mexican heritage and Werdum's role as an analyst and commentator for the UFC Network in Latin America.

Both fighters are also expected to coach on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, which begins filming this May in Las Vegas, according to Mendez.

No fight date can be set in stone, however, until Velasquez receives clearance to return to the gym 100-percent. The 31-year-old underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder in mid-December, three years after undergoing a similar procedure on his right shoulder, and he still has a ways to go in his recovery.

I think it's multi-factorial.

Werdum landed very strategic body kicks to the lateral abdomen, which most likely was behind the rib fracture that Browne suffered early during the fight.

Considering how "painful" it can be to inhale fully while having a fractured rib, one can assume that Browne was getting a limited supply of oxygen throughout those 5 rounds.

Werdum, furthermore, laying on top of him and making Browne exhausted only added to Browne's lack of energy.

Leg kicks to the body > Fractured Rib > reduce oxygenation by way of painful inhalation > Browne having to support Werdum's body weight (while Werdum had side control, back and full mount) for extended period = severe exhaustion.

All that taken into account, you have to then realize that Werdum's striking accuracy was on point, which only made matters worse for Browne.

I think Browne will be back and improved in 6-8 months.

I don't think people realize how big Werdum is. He's 6'5" and fights at 232-235 lbs, walking-around weight is 250.

Do you think cain can hang?

On the ground, no. On the feet, yes. I think Cain will push him against the fence most of the fight like he did with JDS.

I didn't think Browne would win, but I was surprised he gassed out in the first round. If he had somehow won the fight he wouldn't stand a chance against Cain.

Werdum vs. Cain is a much better match-up.
8  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: AIDS - MONKEYS - THEN HOW DID IT REACH MEN? on: April 21, 2014, 08:13:36 AM
"AIDS virus"? Never heard of it. AIDS is not a virus, it's a disease. HIV is the virus. It leads to AIDS. How can people be commenting on this topic without even basic levels of information and education on the subject?

In nature viruses do mutate as rapidly, and in many cases, more rapidly than the HIV virus. Think of the influenza virus. How many strains have mutated, leading to rapid outbreaks? Every year people need to get a new flu jab because the virus mutates so rapidly that no vaccine can nail it down.

HIV (and influenza) are RNA viruses - they don't contain DNA. Thus their replication rates are extremely fast and not strictly controlled (unlike DNA) hence the high error rate during replication - increased occurence of mutations.

Excellent post, couldn't have said it better myself

dumb asshole

The trainer is right. If you can't handle walking with dumbbells either the dumbbells are too heavy for you, or you need to work on your overall strength by deadlifting. I have never tweaked my back walking with dumbbells and I usually pyramid up to 125's (the heaviest my gym has).
21  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ric Escalante - Having brain surgery next week on: April 18, 2014, 12:05:13 AM
Growth factors will encourage benign or malignant growth.

The interesting thing about all the studies of growth hormone that purportedly show a link to cancer were studies of children that were treated for GH deficiency. Long-term studies found that these children were at an increased risk for colorectal cancer as adults. Outside of these studies there has been NO definite link found between use of GH by adults for anti-aging or bodybuilding and increased cancer risk.

I'm not saying that GH can't cause cancer/tumor growth, but that researchers have no concrete proof.

Sorry, I thought you were saying The Ultimate Warrior had cancer. I guess you were referring to Ric Escalante.
23  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ric Escalante - Having brain surgery next week on: April 17, 2014, 11:54:58 PM
Oh what was his diagnosis?

Quote
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's office determined that Warrior's death at age 54 was from "natural causes." The official cause was "atherosclerotic/arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease," with no further investigation expected. Atherosclerosis is the buildup of fatty deposits on the walls of arteries, which can lead to a dangerous narrowing of the arteries.
24  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ric Escalante - Having brain surgery next week on: April 17, 2014, 11:51:23 PM
It certainly contributed to his cancer if he ever used any growth factors (Slin/GH.)

He didn't have cancer
25  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Ric Escalante - Having brain surgery next week on: April 17, 2014, 10:58:32 PM

But did the steroids contribute or exacerbate the high blood pressure? It could not have helped it, either :/

My comment about Warrior having hypertension is based on his Youtube videos in recent years where his face was constantly beet-red.

This picture was taken the day before his death
