1  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: Forearms give way before larger muscles on large compound exercises... on: June 17, 2011, 09:36:39 AM
JPM nailed it. Once I started using a false grip years ago with many movements (pullups/downs, bbrows, reverse grip cambered bar curls, basically most any pulling w/a Barbell) and an overhand, or over under grip on deads, I never had grip problems again.
2  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: Arnold presses: anyone tried those? on: June 17, 2011, 09:27:52 AM
Do them in a Total Body Strength class I take at Lifetime Tuesdays and Thursdays. The raising them over my head I can feel, the squeezing them inward, not so much. But we do volume with low weights and move on to other shoulder movements so combining it with other exercises helps burn out my delts. Probably wouldn't do them outside the class environment
This brings a good point..do u think it's better to do higher volume for shoulders? Let's say..2 exercises for each head? 18 sets? ..and are there any good compound movements for rear delts?
3  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: Spice it up! Backwards training. on: June 17, 2011, 09:22:32 AM
From what I learned when I started weight lifting... you should do the same routine for a muscle group for a span of 3-6 weeks, then switch it up, all the while trying to increase weight. This will give your muscles enough time to adapt, and when they do, you switch it up to confuse them and adapt differently next go 'round. Is this correct, or is it better to do something different each time?
4  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: Arnold presses: anyone tried those? on: June 16, 2011, 04:59:02 PM
I do something similar that has recently shown me results. Seated, I start the db's like an Arnold press, but alternate them...passing the side of my face on the way up, and turning the db so that at the top the db is almost directly above my shoulder with the palm facing away. I call these "Black panther presses" cause they go straight up, and I feel Arnold presses come out a bit at the top of the movement.

Oh, one more thing..try and arch your back slightly so that you're looking at the ceiling easily at the top of the motion. Make sure your upper back is touching the backrest of the bench.
5  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Spice it up! Backwards training. on: June 16, 2011, 09:27:39 AM
 Hey guys,
      I tried this training technique last week, and was really sore in different places, and even had to improvise some of my normal routine halfway through it. For example;

Normally my back day goes like this: Pullups/pulldowns superset
                                                       Barbell rows
                                                       One arm db rows
                                                       Hammer strength machine rows
                                                       Deadlifts
                                                       Hyperextensions

Well I decided to switch things up, I was gonna do every routine in my week backwards. First off, when I got to BB rows, I couldn't do them because of the deadlifts and hyperextensions, so I layed down on an incline bench backwards, and did db rows that way. Man the next day, my lower traps, you know inside the middle of the back, was so pumped and sore. I haven't felt it sore like that in a long time. And I really got my lower back. Got good results for the rest of the week as well..Has anyone else tried something like this?

OMG. Don't get it started. The last thing we need is a heel like Kos boasting about with a new title. It'll be the UFC equivalent to The Miz being champ. Then I'll really have nothing left to watch.
7  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: VPX Shotgun vs Superpump on: August 20, 2010, 10:04:38 AM
Always shotgun. The only other supp that comes close is the new V12. Keep in mind V12 was the 1st product to combine arginine/creatine/glutamine for pre-workout use along with energy enhancers.
VPX took this idea and perfected it. BSN altered it with (IMO) cheap ingredients, and the list goes on, and still continues to grow unsuccessfully to this day. Wait, there is one new product that also works well, but I rather stick with the Shotgun...it's called assault, by Musclepharm. And their post w/o powder recon is unmatched!
8  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Is anything safe? Even protein? on: August 17, 2010, 08:49:47 AM
Well my hope is that some people will do research and help prolong the years (healthy ones) of their lives. I myself wouldn't say to avoid all of them (trans fat & MSG) at all cost cause it's damn near impossible, but by reading labels and being more aware of what goes in your body, you CAN reduce greatly the amounts of MSG and trans fats in your diet. Look at most of the proteins out there. What r u really paying for? Most of them have over 15 ingredients, and what business besides fillers and preservatives do they have in your powder, let alone your body. Then read something like Jay Robb's protein powder. He only has about 5 ingredients total that make up his powder, and it's better than most of the others filled with MSG and hidden trans fats for supposed "taste" or lower cost or w/e.

Bottom line, I feel people aren't as bright as they used to be, and what's allowed to be on store shelves these days is largely to blame. Ever hear the expression "ignorance is bliss?" Well, I'm afraid that's the mantra now, but I choose to know the truth and not stay quiet nor stupid. Do as you want, and..

..believe it or not. It's your choice.

thats why the developed liver detoxifiers....

bench
Yeah but not brain detoxifiers. It's a neurotoxin that kills braincells.

Forget about all the Oprah brouhaha and listen to what he says about MSG and the other hidden forms of trans fats and their effects.
10  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Is anything safe? Even protein? on: August 16, 2010, 02:49:04 PM
I found this link in my quest to understand the underlying and modified names for "MSG" monosodium glutimate and thought it interesting.... http://www.msgmyth.com/hidename.htm

Seems like nothing on my shelf, let alone any supermarket or supp store is safe.
11  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: A gigantic warning to all concerning whey protein powders on: July 29, 2010, 10:28:56 PM
Well I agree that what is out there might not be the best grade, I find it hard to believe that it's complete useless junk, if it was all the Pro's and BBers out there wouldn't grow, 50% of their diets in many cases is supplemented with whey. Just my friendly 2 cents.
From my research over the past 8 years of following the sport, the majority of Pro BBers eat between 6-8 solid meals a day, and supplement only about 1 or 2 protein shakes a day. That being said, shakes really only make up about 20 percent of the pro's (that actually even use shakes) diet's. So drinking these good for nothing protein shakes wouldn't have too much of a detrimental effect on their growth. Believe it or not, half of Pros who endorse those shakes don't even use them at all. I think you're getting confused with the average "gym rat." Pro Body Builders are at a totally different caliber than even a well muscled gym rat at your local gym, and the difference is just that...their diet. Train as you may, but if you're not getting enough solid and correct nutrition you will only grow so much and be limited as to reaching your BBing goal.
12  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: A gigantic warning to all concerning whey protein powders on: July 29, 2010, 06:55:17 PM
Alright, let's just relax and think this through. I was gonna start a thread based on my findings as of late about whey products and commercial milk vs raw milk, but I may as well comment and address some issues here. Basically without going into too much detail, most (90th percentile) supp companies buy this so called "whey" protein at cheap prices and in high bulk to market, manufacture, and sell as something that is in tact, and works. I hate to burst your bubble but that same whey they sell to the public consumer is useless. Yeah that's right, useless. 1st off because all the good enzymes are being killed off in the pasteurizing process, and second (which should be 1st) the very cows they're getting this whey from are sick. They extend the natural time processing period of a cow by pumping them up with hormones and feeding them garbage to fatten them up. If you question what I'm saying, try to find out where exactly the source of the whey is coming from, from any manufacturer. The only one I found to get their source from healthy cows is Jay Robb's. I don't like wasting money, so if you do, then don't heed my advice. But if you do care, and you don't wanna waste your time or money, do a little research. Don't be fooled. These companies don't care about you. Only your money. Very few put out anything that's listed on the labels, or that work. The FDA is a joke in this country, so you as the consumer have to take your own precaution. Like I said, I don't wanna go into grave detail on this thread, because it's too much, but I wouldn't worry about a shortage of whey, if most of it isn't doing anything for you anyway.
13  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Does anyone else do this??? on: October 24, 2009, 05:08:02 PM
Dont do that. 9 yr olds shouldnt have 50mgs of caffeine in one sip
That's in a full 8-10oz serving of Shotgun. I only gave her a sip to try it. I was honestly just wondering if anyone else was curious at how others ppl react to the taste of sports supps being that those other ppl aren't used to the taste of it. I didn't mean to get a bad reaction about it. I remember the 1st time I tried protein (Pure protein [bottled]). It was a WEIRD taste, but since I'm used to it now, it's normal. Know what I mean?
14  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Greek Style Yogurt on: October 24, 2009, 05:01:42 PM
I use honey cause I'm allergic to most fruits or fruit seeds. Baby food agrees with me tho. Anyway... the strawberry Kefir milk is really good!!! Adictive. I suggest try that one. Tastes like they add real strawberry extract or something. Let me kno how it goes
15  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Does anyone else do this??? on: October 17, 2009, 07:25:27 PM
Yes, it's perfectly normal to give your kid the same supplements/performance-enhancers you're using. In fact, lots of people do it.

Damn! I wonder what I woulda gotten, had I said I gave her yr n a half old daughter a sip of shotgun  Huh Kinda harsh though...don't u think? Anyway on a lighter note...the 9 yr old liked the shotgun n said it tasted like kool-aid. Ha!
16  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Does anyone else do this??? on: October 17, 2009, 09:03:25 AM
Like most of you, I train everyday, try to eat right, and supplement. It has always been a small want of mine (maybe even call it a dream) to one day have a family, like a wife and kids and have them support me no matter what it is that I'm doing. Be it BBing, weightlifting or something simple that has nothing to do with, like design or something. I always wanted to keep training in the loop though, no matter where life took me. So now I'm an alarm and camera installer by day, and train MMA at night. Long story short, supplements have been a vice of mine since 2002 when I started traing BBing seriously. I love the feeling I get when I go pick a new one up. I love reading the ad, the info on the supp, and the label to see what ingredients are included with my new purchase. I also love giving them a fair trial period and seeing the results I get while on them.

Lately though, and sometimes in the past I've let my GF try them to kinda experiment and see what reaction she gets from them. It started with Monster Milk (the vanilla). Needless to say, she was hooked on the flavor, but I knew it really wasn't made for women because it has creatine in it, and even at just one scoop a day for one week, I believe there was a significant water retention starting to set in om her body. So I opted to buy her "be buff" from GNC along with lean shake, and Designer's "Aria" womens shake. I made her try like half a serving of NO shotgun, and I dont think she felt any big results with it. But then I made her 9 yrs old daughter try a sip of it....well, more like 2 ounces. She was a bit wired from it. I also once bought this multivitamin shake from GNC in chocolate and well its made for men with like arginine and stuff, and I made her little yr n a half old daughter try it, n she put a funny face, lol. So my question is....does anyone make their GF's or family members try the suppd they're taking? I hope I'm not weird for this, or catch flak for it. I just do it to goof around n expirement.
17  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Greek Style Yogurt on: September 22, 2009, 08:17:58 PM
just picked up Fage yogurt from Trader Joe's, as well as Kefir milk. I gotta say, don't care for either much, especially the kefir milk. My GF loves it though. She says they serve the milk @ Turkish and Greek restaurants. She likes it with salt...stirs it in n drinks it. Idk, lol. I can't. Glad I bought the yogurt with the honey. Helps tons!
18  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Can Creatine make you sleepy? on: January 20, 2009, 05:46:57 PM
I think you are right. I did quit alcohol for a few weeks, however I woke up everyday completely thirsty, similar to when I was on a hangover... I do feel lethargic (and also bored), and I am not drinking enough water. Funny thing is that I am slightly heavier but not stronger. Last time that I took creatine was like one year and half ago, but back then I didn't stop drinking alcohol, nevertheless I felt stronger (funny shit). I will increase my water intake and then I'll report the results.
No prob man. Hope it helps. Also...I also feel more energetic when on creatine, so long as I drink alot of water. And I feel it increases the effects of other supps and caffeine. On the down side, I do get drunk quicker while on creatine. And whatever muscle I've worked out the day b4, or more often earlier that day, it's like I feel the alchohol drawing into the muscle n I start gettin ripped lmao!...Well, by "ripped" I mean drunk. Wonder if anyone else feels this???
19  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Can Creatine make you sleepy? on: January 19, 2009, 05:40:10 PM
It's related to dehydration. Similar effects r caused by caffeine intake in some individuals when not adequately hydrated. In layman terms, creatine draws the water from vital parts of the body, into the muscle itself, and caffeine just flushes water out of the body. Either way, when your body is not adequately hydrated, it causes a dehydrating effect thus causing lethargy. So drink more water and spread it out evenly throughout the day. BION
20  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Nutrition, Products & Supplements / Re: Just bought Creatine...how much to take. on: January 19, 2009, 05:22:57 PM
u only need 3-5g a day @ ur maintenance stage. Anything more is just going in the toilet.
21  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: Affliction vs UFC July 19... on: July 17, 2008, 08:44:23 PM
Hahaha, you suck so much UFC dick it's disgusting. The Affliction card is the best card on paper that I've seen in years. If you didn't have your head shoved up Dana's ass and could actually see what fights were on what card you might agree.

Does Dana take an enema before you rim him out? I doubt it.  Undecided

Hahahaha, that UFC card is absolutely atrocious.
I agree the Affliction card is insane!! But the UFC card aint that bad unless u compare it to Affliction's card.

23  Getbig Misc Discussion Boards / Mixed Martial Arts (MMA/UFC) / Re: rich franklin vs bisping on: May 29, 2008, 05:18:54 PM
I think it would be an interesting fight for sure. Despite the win against Lutter I really dont know if Franklin has truly recovered mentally or if he ever will since being owned by Silva on 2 occasions.

If Bisping had a chance of beating him then now is the time.
Obviously Ace has recovered mentally, otherwise he'd've never taken the rematch against Silva. From what I saw in his last fight, I can tell u that Rich is definitely improving and not backing down from any challange. It's not every day u see a fighter get out of a secure arm bar attempt n then go on n win the fight against someone who has superior ground skills over yours. Owned!

I would like some more info on this product because my friend seriously wants to buy it, but I told him I would get him info on how dangerous or not this product really is. What is HPTA shutdown? and is there any way to counter it, or take something that will help u out after the arimatest cycle? I'll really appreciate any info anyone can give on this product. Thanks

I've been taking them for 2 weeks and I had chest discomfort for the past few days so I stopped taking them n started PCT early. Is this common? Or should I just lay off of them and return the product?
