Most people probably don't get over four hours of real honest work done in an eight-our "work"day anyway.

Opportunity cost

(Google it)
4  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Average Hours Worked Per Week, Should it be Less? on: May 24, 2013, 06:58:33 AM
The 40 hour work week is what many people strive for because it is associated with consistency and a solid job, but is 40 hours a week..8 hours a day 5 days a week with 2 days off ideal? Working a 9 to 5 means only having a few hours a day to yourself other than working or getting ready for work or driving to work and only 2 days off per week. This is quite a lot but is there a way to work less but without decreasing pay? Yes. In America there is a huge inequality of income. Some people work a few hours a week and make millions a year and some people work 60 hours a week and make 15k a year. This inequality is generally not due to the wealthier person having some innate quality or working 10000 times harder than the poorer person. The inequality is due to flaws in our economy and society which allows some people , due to circumstance or accident, to be super wealthy while others are super poor. This happens due to flaws in the system and the way things work. Idely everyone should work 20 hours a week and make enough to thrive but in America 10% of the population owns the majority o the wealth. There is only so much money in the system and if 10 people out of 100 own own 80% of the wealth then 90% of the people are left to fight over an increasingly small amount of income. Where does this lead? Increases poverty, increased unemployment, increased dissatisfaction, increased crime, increased conflict and suffering.
5  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Our country is more fucked up - driver licenses for illegal aliens on: May 23, 2013, 09:26:10 AM
A drivers license just means you can drive in this country an have passed the basic tests to be able to. It doesn't mean you are granted citizenship or anything. It also helps us keep track of undocumented individuals.

It is hard to find a thread with the most envy, anger, ignorance and pettiness but I believe this one takes the cake.

He is a goddamn biochemist who is smarter, more muscular and ripped than 95% of the people who post here and that is the only reason he gets attacked.

Get a life people.  You armchair bodybuilders need to do something with your own lives and stop attacking someone who is far superior to you in many ways.

Getting a job is mostly about looking professional, being sharp, having charisma, persistence, team player attitude, initiative to learn and good work ethic.

Get all that stuff on point, and its more important than a degree.

Also networking is key, talk to lots of people and kiss ass to people who can hook you up with good jobs.

It's all about how you present yourself, who you know, and how you play your cards.

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong, Wrong...

Getting a job today is about KNOWING THE RIGHT PEOPLE.

More than anything.

Don't go for huge money right away.

Shoot to make 35k per year at first, then improve from there.

Lots of people have unrealistic expectations of going out and making 6 figures in the first year.

35k is even unrealistic for MOST college graduates these days unless they have a computer science or biology or chemistry degree.

Welder
Electrician
Plumber

If by "decent" you mean 30-40 k a year then sure...But you have to own your own business. I know someone with their own plumbing business and they get a lot of work but bring in maybe 35k a year.

If you are any of these trades and work FOR someone then expect to bring in much less.
10  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: i talked to a few highly educated highly paid people i know and i feel discourag on: April 21, 2013, 01:00:51 PM
Here's how you do it.

If you do get a college education, pick a good major that is practical, computer science is a fine choice.

Then, don't take out a lot of student loans, during college, be a cheapskate, work part time, sell drugs, don't take any vacations, do what you gotta do, but make sure you keep your student loans LOW.

Follow these 2 steps, and it is worth it.

And if you are hot, you can turn yourself into a ladyboy. Hot ladyboys can make big money fucking old dudes in the ass.

Without special scholarships or wealthy parents, it is impossible NOT to take out loans. I got no help from my parents, I worked full time and went to college full time and I was a cheap skate and I still had to take out loans. Never went on vacations either.

Going to a university, not just a trade school or a community college, the tuition is far too high.

they pretty much confirmed to me that without at the very least one masters degree in engineering or computer science you cant expect to ever get a good salary

other useful things may obviously be doctor/lawyer

those foreigners with their flimsy one man businesses are probably making a lot more than any guy without a very solid education

Not a good idea anymore...

1. Assault Rifles are more effective at taking out multiple armed assailants.

2. Assault Rifles are best suited for defending oneself against a corrupt or tyrannical government.

3. Assault Rifles are fun to shoot.

4. Assault Rifles are fun to collect.

5. Assault Rifles are statistically far less deadly than pistols.

6. Assault rifles account for less than 500 deaths per year out of 30,000 gun deaths.

Deer Antler spray doesn't work. There is no evidence let alone proof that it does. It is just another mumbo jumbo placebo effect supplement that people hawk to make a buck. Like all of these "test boosters" on the market or "hgh boosters" or "homeopathic remedies".

Worthless.

19  Getbig Main Boards / The Getbiggers Board - The Circus or the Zoo / Friendly advice to you all on: January 28, 2013, 11:40:36 PM
The intelligent people who frequent this board have realized a long time ago that no real substantial academical or intellectual discussions of politics occur here. The only things that occur here are low-brow uninformed uneducated opinion mongering based on internet blogs written by someone else. In several years of reading this board, including the politics board, I have seen less than a dozen threads that had truly intellectual and high-level discussions of political issues out of tens of thousands over the past decade. Anyone who argues politics (or religion) on a bodybuilding board can be compared to someone who wants to argue over crayons with children.

I learned this and hopefully the more intelligent among you will also realize this. Few people here are smart enough to comprehend political issues beyond the common talking point level. If you want to argue politics, then attend political meetings at universities and talk with professors or legitimate politicians. You won't find any real substantial academic political discussions on this bodybuilding board, or any bodybuilding board. I have spent a lot of time with professors and politicians and I've taken many graduate level political science classes and I have also been a lurker on this board for several years, and I can guarantee that the posts on this board don't even come close to anything academic or intellectual. 80% of the posts here are uninformed or downright incorrect factually and represent a massive misunderstanding and ignorance of basic political science or modern political theory (and often basic common sense).

Here is a test for anyone who wonders if they are politically savvy: Scroll through a few pages of this forum and read a few of the threads. If you find any of the threads or any of the posts to be "politically academic" or "intellectual" then your standards are so low that you need to admit to yourself that you don't really know much about politics or political science.

My advice to you: Spend 75% less time on this message board and instead spend that time in the Gym, Reading a good book, Spending time with your family, getting another college degree, starting a company, jogging, writing something useful, volunteering, playing with your pet....etc.

No doubt I'll get a ton of negative or "witty" responses, but I probably won't even read them for a week or two because I'll be living my life.

22  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: EVOLUTION is fact, but Natural Selection is FLAWED! on: January 13, 2013, 04:30:05 PM
Evolution of life has occured here on planet Earth, that is an incontrovertible scientific fact. The fossil record does not lie. However, the MECHANISM of action–meaning, HOW evolution took place, has not been adequately excplained. Natural Selection is true, and plays a large role in the evolution of life, but it certainly isn’t the whole picture. It would take an absolute leap of FAITH for me to believe that something as complex and intricately functioning as the BRAIN arose simply from random mutations and the subtle pressures of natural selection. As a true scientist and philosopher, I don’t make leaps of faith, but rather, I believe in the EVIDENCE, and simply can not accept that Natural Selection is the SOLE cause for ALL of the magnificent and incredible diversity and variation of life here on Earth. Information theory prohibits such a misplaced and unreasonable belief.

Just because you can't imagine it happening doesn't mean that it didn't happen that way.

Information, as a law, must always come from an intelligent source such as a computer or a brain. Each and every one of the TRILLIONS of cells in our bodies has been programmed with brilliant mathematical instructions encoded in our DNA. The BRAIN, and all of life on earth, have been intricately and precisely developed, as the most powerful and brilliant TECHNOLOGY of our natural universe. WE as human beings are literally, as heinously complex carbon-based life forms, highly advanced organic TECHNOLOGICAL beings that have even created our OWN technologies, much in our own images. Perhaps our purpose is to continue to PRODUCE, to develop ever more complex technologies that eventually enable us to unlock the full potential of our own DNA(genetic information technology). All of life on earth is highly advanced organic technology, based on the brilliant mathematics of DNA. From the smallest bacterium to the largest fish in the sea, all of life has been progammed by an unmistakably intelligent source, far superior to that of human beings. It is plainly obvious that LIFE, as a complex form of natural organic technology, could not arise simply from random mutations. It is just not possible, and as I scientist, I just can’t believe that.

Define "Information".

DOGMATISM exists even among the scientific community, something that I can now see as I have grown older, smarter, and wiser. I will be offering my hypothesis for how life and it’s astounding diversity and variation arose here on earth, using the new sciences of Systems Theory, Chaos and Complexity, Emergent Properties, Quantum Consciousness, Cynamics, and Sacred Geometrical Mathematics.

“Anyone who becomes seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that there is a spirit manifest in the laws of of the Universe, a spirit vastly superior to that of man.”-Albert Einstein

The only source I can find for Einstein saying this is on your own blog.

i had mentioned this in 8th grade to a PETA rep who came to talk to our class.
I called PETA hypocrites because they only want to help the "big eyed, cute and furry" animals and not the menacing ones.

That isn't true at all. PETA has spoken out against all kinds of fishing and also shark finning.

They throw them into the ocean still alive just to drown...

Shark attacks are also incredibly rare. It almost never happens if you look at the statistics and how many people are in the water. You're more likely to be killed digging in the sand at the beach or wrestling with a vending machine than in a shark attack.

Few people in the whole world die from shark attacks but the number of humans who kill sharks is in the tens of MILLIONS yearly.
