Not sure if this is the proper place to post this question.

Can anyone tell me which Figure Athlete has the most informative, motivating video available?

I am looking for a video where the athlete touches on posing, diet, competition, etc.
4  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Petition to bring back the 90s look (To the Judges from Getbig) on: July 22, 2011, 09:33:13 AM
Exactly right...

Every sport progresses...in BB, that has meant bigger, heavier, more muscle...not always the best package, but there are exceptions in everything.

As for any research, as someone asked...even the most novice physiques are too extreme for the general public..which is why it wouldnt make a damn bit of difference.

We dont need to appeal to the general public..we need to appeal to our OWN fans...by way of better entertainment, shows, incorporating more personality into the sport...look at wrestling...its the storylines that sell, not the 1,000,000,0000th suplex, leg drop, etc...

Not saying anything needs to be scripted, or silly outfits/ costumes...just more attention to selling the rivalries, stories, challenges, etc...

A great example Ive used in the past, was back a few years ago at the British GP, where KIng and Craig went at it on stage...biggest crowd reaction of the night...and they were battling....for 4th and 5th.

It wasnt the fact that they werent going toe to toe for the title...it was the fact that they hated each other, were talking smack onstage, and raised the energy level and fan interaction 1,000% that night...it was real, genuine emotion....THATS what sells, and THATS what would be needed to interject some much needed interest into the sport...competitions dont have much appeal...shows do.

You are exactly right Mr. Chick.

Bodybuilding will never appeal to the general public.

You hit the nail on the head in regards to making the sport more entertaining to the fans that do support it.

In my opinion Can Fit Pro is a reputable certification.

That shot of Stan Mcquay is what bodybuilding to me is all about...Wow

What a shame bodybuilding has come to.
9  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: MMA is the new (and better) BB!!! on: July 29, 2009, 10:52:16 PM
The truth about supplements and bodybuilding is that anyone who actually pays to go to a bodybuilding show is probabally a bodybuilder. By the time a "bodybuilder" is actually going to see a bodybuilding competition there likely educated enough to know these companys that make supplements are jokes, the supplements are garbage and the average bodybuilder who buys tickets for a pro bodybuilder show realizes it. By this time I believe they understand that Dexter Jackson didnt build his physique with creatine and glutamine..lol So really I have no clue and never did understand why these supplement companys have the faces of massive bodybuilders on there product. Its the biggest lie I ever scene. I know the general public would believe an MMA fighter using a supplement product than a cartoon like GH filled bodybuilder. That to me is a little more realistic even though its still a lie. I love bodybuilding, but it is what it is.

Im from Canada. I know when the UFC came to Montreal it was one of the biggest UFC's ever. When Pro bodybuilding came to Montreal there was maybe 150 people there at the very most. After the competition the bodybuiders that competed were thumbing cabs like the rest of us. It was a sad scene, seeing a bunch of distorted bodybuilders that comprimised there health to stand up on stage for absolutely nothing. The big winner took home a wopping 10k. Its sad to see bodybuilding such a dieing hobby.
11  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: UNBELIEVABLE! CRAIG TITUS LINKED TO MLB STEROIDS SCANDAL on: July 19, 2009, 05:04:44 PM
Couldnt be more wrong...the real big money is in fitness, and a reasonably attainable physique...not in hardcore BB....

M&F outsells Flex by a huge margin....Mens Fitness outsells M&F by a landslide...The overwhelming majority of consumers of suplements are NON competing guys who have no aspirations of being a Pro BB, or even looking like one for that matter

That is so true. Im the only body builder amongst my friend group. I have yet to meet an average person who thinks Ronny Coleman looks good, and thats what they aspire to look like. You never ever ever see a top tier body builder in a main stream commercial on TV, or asked to do a show say like American Gladiators. Theres a reason for that, hardcore bb is a circus act like I said, its a cult like following, and its not mainstream. It never will be. It would be a bigger sport without the drugs guaranteed. It might even then be classified as a "sport" by mainstream public if you could wipe the drugs out. Hell TSN might even cover it.
12  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: UNBELIEVABLE! CRAIG TITUS LINKED TO MLB STEROIDS SCANDAL on: July 19, 2009, 04:53:20 PM
Ronny Coleman still would of won 8 mr. olympias if steroids never existed. Mr. Chick would still be a pro as well. Steroids dont make a pro bodybuilder, they just enhance there superior god gifted genetics.
13  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: UNBELIEVABLE! CRAIG TITUS LINKED TO MLB STEROIDS SCANDAL on: July 19, 2009, 04:48:54 PM
It just happens I enjoy this carnival act.
14  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: UNBELIEVABLE! CRAIG TITUS LINKED TO MLB STEROIDS SCANDAL on: July 19, 2009, 04:47:21 PM
What do you mean? The supplement companies would sky rocket if steroids were wiped off the earth. Bodybuilding would be just as big I believe without the drugs. Bodybuilding is a carnival act, not really a sport. Thats why back in the 70's allot of competitions were held at carnivals.

Every sport accept hockey. At least we Canadians can still have some pride and dignity in our little sport. You dont see to many juice monkeys rollin around with hockey skates on.

fux was the biggest waste, with the most talent, along with Mike Francois. If these 2 cats didnt get injured or sick and didnt have there careers cut short they could of both did some bigtime damage.

A few cats that I have seen over the past few years that have a touch of this would be:

King Kamali-stage 2
Dennis James-Just starting
Jay Cutler-Just starting
Ronny C.-Just starting
Heiko Kallbac-Bigtime
Armin Faour-Bigtime
Greg Kovacs is the most disgusting thing goin. I feel bad for this cat. I think this syndrome should be named after him.
Markus Rul-Just starting
And a Number of third rank pros have it, that Im sure I didnt mention. Who else have I forgotten??

This is just a little observation for Mr. Anthony from a bodybuilding fan. Melvin why can't you do an interview without taking that fuckin ear piece out of your head. That drives me nuts, when people roll around and operate with one of them in there head when theres times its not needed, only to show people that you might be somewhat important. Its my own pet peeve and 2 cents. Other than that you seem like a cool cat.

Anyone who feel that "being there" doesn't give you an advantage over someone who wasn't has probably never been to a show.  If that was the case the judges could stay home, watch the show and make their decision.

I've seen Quincy and Troy before, Quincy is about 7 inches taller than Troy, in the comparison poses they're the same size.  That's like taking Arnold, scaling him down to be the same size as Franco and say franco is better

Exactly
24  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: RIP Bodybuilding!!! on: September 09, 2007, 08:24:08 AM
Some of you cats are right of your rocker. Troy Alves was way off the mark, he was very soft in the back, zero hamstrings and glutes. Just to fill you in Willy M. competitions are won by conditioning, skin tightness, thiness, and size/symmetry. Agreed Alves body is more pleasing to look at but he lacked 2 of the 4 things he need to beat QT. He didnt drop his water correctly and maybe could of used a little more cardio, and Yes you really dont know what everybody looked like unless you are there. A few pictures doesnt tell the whole tail. Darrem Charles is a prime example what you should look like when you step on stage, even though he was at about 90% he was the closest to the mark. CC was off right from the start, later in pre-judging he started to tighten up but his timing was also off. No body there was 100% with the grainy dry look. Darrem was the closest thats why he won.
