being a christian and using ped's such as AAS has nothing to do with one another. what makes you think they do?

Yes they do. Steroids use outside of trt is downright immoral. As is any substance used to acheive a higher state of being, beyond which God intended you to acheive with the body he gave you. Whey lrotein is fine, as it is just a food extract.
2  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: 1 Work set to Failure VS. 2 or 3 sets with moderate weights? on: December 16, 2012, 05:33:05 PM
Imo, even 12 to 15 reps runs into the same problem, "lactic lockup".

Or maybe Im somewhat fast twitch dominant.

I do enjoy pushups for sets of 20 though. But I loathe doing any concentric slowly.

I agree with the guy about chest requiring more volume, I believe that FT dominant pecs are non existant. Fuck you if Im wrong. Lol

Generally speaking doing all your sets in the 20+ rep range for the purpose of building muscle is a horrible idea. Will it build muscles? possibly, But the problem with high reps is you can not take your muscle to failure.

If you use heavy weights in 8-15 rep range your muscle can go right to failure and 1 working set per exercise will yield great results.

What the misconception is while doing higher reps (20+) is that you are taking your muscles to failure, while it may be true that you can not perform another rep, but this does not mean that the muscle involved has gone to failure.

During high rep sets lactic acid is the culprit that enables you to move on beyond a certain barrier and it is more likely that your muscle has not reached failure when lactic acid kicks in, furthermore during a high rep set your tendons, ligaments and  :)joints will get sore quicker then the muscle will, so failling in a set of 20-30 reps does not mean you put a lot of stress on the muscle for growth.

I rarely go below 10 reps.

But I find that pushing any compound for even 10 to 20 reps to failure can destroy your CNS.

High reps to failure with moderate weight = high workload = cns overload

Dorian yates has.
5  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / Re: 1 Work set to Failure VS. 2 or 3 sets with moderate weights? on: December 15, 2012, 03:53:25 PM
Depends on the movement. I would say that when it comes to something like a deadlifts, it's better to WORK UP to one max set.

Something like a barbell curl, I believe it's better t stick with the same weight for 3-4 sets in a given rep range, really focus on form and hitting the muscle you are targeting.

Then there are excercises like chin ups where you can use either approach depending on what you are trying to accomplish.

Yeah it seems that some exercises require less sets to stimulate the muscle fully.
Probably because you can use a shit ton of weight on deadlifts. Whereas with movements like curls, laterals, flyes you need more total reps to acheive a decent workload, since the weights are less.

Realized too, that these are OLYMPIC WEIGHTLIFTERS. THEIR GENETICS ARE FAR BEYOND THE AVERAGE LIFTER OR BODYBUILDER. They are fast twitch freaks whose muscles respond and adapt FAR MORE EFFICIENTLY THAN 90% OF THE POPULATION.

My point exactly. Glad you answered your own question.
10  Getbig Bodybuilding Boards / Training Q&A / 1 Work set to Failure VS. 2 or 3 sets with moderate weights? on: December 14, 2012, 06:35:46 PM
One work set to failure vs. 2/3 moderate work sets?

In your experience, is it more optimal to do 1 all out work set, with the heaviest weight you can manage to failure?

Or is it better to use a more moderate weight for multiple works, pacing your intensity, so as to get more total work done without frying your CNS?
11  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: which one of you studs is this? on: December 14, 2012, 12:13:57 PM
makes sense since muscles are mostly water

and that somehow related to water between the muscle and the skin?

Most people cant get bone dry without losing some muscle fullness. It requires water restriction for days before a competition. Some water will also be taken from their muscles.
12  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: which one of you studs is this? on: December 14, 2012, 01:02:12 AM
maybe because the insulin causes permanent waterybloatmess

And because there is a limit to how much mass you can keep pumped up onstage without holding some water. No water =   less fullness/pump. You rid the subcutaneous water, you also dehydrate the muscle. Dorian Yates may have been the only one who bypassed this obstacle, whether throu genetics or some unknown methodology.

hahah yea corpus is pretty shitty but Id say its better than galveston.

If youre looking for water in Texas I would say head to a river or lake. The guadelupe river in new braunfels is a blast to float down and there are a ton of lakes with ppl on them every weekend in the summer.

Houston is great: lots of jobs, culturally diverse, lots of space and decent cost of living.

traffic and blow sometimes pretty bad depending on what side of town you live on but all in all its a great place to live.

New braunfels is a very nice, old fashion themed town. Alot of German descended folks inhabit NB.

Also nice is nearby San Marcos, another small town with a river, university, outlet shopping.

Both towns are in between Austin and San Antonio. About 30 min either way.

The natural test boost I get from lifting seems to make me pretty rabid at times.

But something tells me the the improved recovery from gear would improve my mood. Since its during my recovery periods that I form a temper. When I took Dbol I was in a great mood and all peeformance was improved, even at the arcade. Lol

19  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Build size with the 12-15-20 rep range? on: December 01, 2012, 08:20:37 PM
12+ reps causing only glycogen retention is utter nonsense.

What it is, is that 12 to 25 reps build more TOTAL MUSCLE SIZE than low reps. Some of the size is from fast twitch growth, some from sarcoplasm/glycogen. Higher reps actually build muscle on a genetic level by decreasing myostatin levels in the trained muscle, whereas low reps do not. The pros dont use higher reps cuz theyre lazy, they use them because they just plain work.

If low reps have worked great for you then more power to ya. But its not the optimal way to go about pure mass training. For most people.

Why not just ignore them?
