Try the Claritin-D 24 hour...   it seems to work best in my experience. Just make sure to get the one that they hold behind the counter, not the one they put on the shelves. It is still non-prescription, but not allowed to be on the aisles. Look for it to have  Pseudoephedrine as its main active ingredient.
2  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: What happend to Luke Wood? on: February 19, 2007, 02:56:56 PM
Luke was there at the show (I spoke briefly with him backstage during the finals) and he looked really pale and apparently was fighting a flu. Luke was really a class act and very personable even though he obviously felt like hell. Good luck at the next show!
3  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Just exactly who are these IFBB "Board members"? on: September 27, 2006, 07:12:41 AM
nor is there an IFBB 'athletes only' website where they can communicate about it.  So, anything brought to light here on GetBig ends up being shouted down my naysayers or diluted with fluff by the fluffers.

An IFBB Athletes only website/ forum would be a great tool for the Pros to be able to discuss things that directly effect themselves and the IFBB. That is precisely why there isn't one. It could be the first step to unionization of the members. The IFBB would rather have the disconnect because it makes it easier for them to run things the way they want without interference. It is wrong that issues get brought up only once a year and are submitted for approval to a board that is looking out for the IFBB and not the membership, but they get away with it because they are the only game in town.

This isn't so much a vote "for" Wayne, as it is a vote against IFBB monopoly and autocratic control of the sport.  See the bigger picture.
I could really care less about who is behind the PDI, just that there is someone trying to give people a second option and put a bit of pressure on the IFBB to make changes in the way it is run to better the entire industry.

Most of the spotlight right now is on The IFBB and Lee Priest, but it is really the industry as a whole that needs to be reworked. There are similar examples in other federations like the WNBF (World Natural Bodybuilding Federation). Dave Goodin, the top money winner in WNBF history, has been suspended for 3 years because he did an interview in Ironman Magazine. It was a great article and was good exposure for everyone involved, but the WNBF has a rule against their athletes appearing in magazines other than the ones that they own. They also offer no compensation for this exclusivity, in fact the athletes PAY the WNBF to be a member of their organization (much like the IFBB).

Things need to change, hopefully Lee Priest, Dave Goodin, and the PDI will be the catalyst needed to bring about a better bodybuilding industry.

Maybe Big Ron is still sitting in his car trying to get the voice activated phone dialer to understand the numbers he is calling out....   Grin

7  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Celebrities who are actually fans of bodybuilding.... on: August 03, 2006, 03:07:14 PM
John Schneider from "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "Smallville" is a friend of Lee Priest and has attended the Ironman.

I have also seen Harold Perrineau (plays Micheal on the tv show LOST and was in the last 2 Matrix movies)

Rob/Pain sold the site to a new Admin who has since brought in a new team of mods that found the button that bans people.

 What a great thread.

Radio show. Hmm.. a radio show that people can listen to and haer these guys talk... wow. Is there something like that Bob? Dan? Letís make one, and get these guys to go on, one by one, in an hourly format Wink

I like the show, but it is being marketed to people already interested in the sport. If you want interest in the sport to grow, the trick is to get exposure in places without a pre-existing fanbase (advertising 101). If they secured a spot on broadcast radio, or were linked off of sites other than bodybuilding related portals then it would be different. (I know that is easier said than done, but it does not make it untrue).

Why does the IFBB not push for more exposure? It seems to me that they just have the ship on cruise control. I live in L.A. and for the Olympia, the only coverage I saw was in BB mags and a 2 minute pony show with Gunter ,Mustaffa, and the weatherman on the morning news station. He spent more time trying to pronounce their names than they did talking about the Olympia. There are entire channels now devoted to fitness, yet I don't see any IFBB advertisements on there even. People don't order Pay-Per-View for things they aren't already interested in beforehand, but they will spend an hour watching just about any crap on regular t.v.

I am glad the PDI is going to try to make a go of things, if only for the fact that it might wake up the IFBB. They don't try to get new fans and they run off existing fans with sub-par productions.

11  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: EXTRA $50K WHAT DO YOU FANS THINK. on: May 02, 2006, 03:52:32 PM
Well at least they trashed the stupid challenge round.  Grin

This new idea is really just asking for more problems though. Judging it off of crowd applause would be a disaster. It would be easy when you get Big Ron up against Kris Dim, but get Ron against Jay, or Gunter against Gustavo and it will be simply a judgement call by someone on stage. The only way this would work is to equip each seat with some sort of electronic voting device but to do that you would use up the extra $50k in equipment rental. Just use the $50k to sweeten the prize money for the lower placings, or use it to get a better production together.

As for IFBB not letting pros that compete in the PDI events compete in IFBB events, that is really a bunch of crap. Chick, you should be concentrating more on this issue that the fluffball challenge round crap. The IFBB doesn't own the rights to the pros, they just sanction events. If they want exclusivity, then they need to put the pros under a season contract and pay them for it (like the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB do).

16  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Question for Bob: Was proposal to have MORE COMPARISONS accepted? on: February 23, 2006, 08:20:17 AM
The judges need to remember that not everyone goes to the prejudging. Even though they have already seen some comparisons, the people that paid to be there haven't. I don't understand why this needs to take the form of a proposal, it should just be implemented immediately. It wouldn't really drag the show out too much longer and would be something the fans would actually enjoy watching.

The way the judges run these things now, they could hardly be called contests. It is more like " here are the people who entered, here is your winner, give me my check I have a party to get to".

17  Getbig Main Boards / Gossip & Opinions / Re: Melvin Anthony 2 Weeks out ASC 2006 on: February 22, 2006, 03:59:44 PM
The pictures don't really do Melvin justice. I was at the Ironman and saw him pose earlier in the evening before he got on stage. He is really pretty dry for being 2 weeks out and looked like he packed on some really solid muscle. If he dials it in just a bit more, he will definately be a threat at the ASC. Best of luck Melvin!
