Toronto, Ontario – Mark “Showtime” Wedderburn, a mixed martial artist who fights out of the Kombat Arts Training Academy in Mississauga, will be making his debut appearance in “Ultimate Cage Wars” at the Winnipeg Convention Center on October 28th.

Standing at 6 ft. tall and weighing in at 170 lbs, the father of two has an appreciation of  basketball, soccer, and bull riding,  but lists fighting as his “first love”.   With 14 years of Tae Kwon Do and Kickboxing experience,  Mark felt the need to make a conscious decision of adding Submission Wrestling to his MMA (mixed martial arts) game plan.

Submit Gear Inc, a Mississauga-based MMA clothing company will be sponsoring Mark for the event. “With today’s tough competition getting tougher, versatility is becoming necessity”  says Mark Chiappino, president  of Submit Gear Inc.  “This is why there are very few one-dimensional MMA fighters left out there.  Knowledge is power, and there is no “end” to the learning process of mixed martial arts.”

Canadian UFC superstar Georges St.Pierre - from Montreal, and former UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten are scheduled to be in attendance.

The show will taped for TV and aired on ‘The Fight Network” across North America likely in November.

Ya I know.  The gym is doing a little "too good".

Have you been there recently?  They just moved a couple of months a go to a bigger 10,000 ft. unit.  MUCH more space now.

They had UFC's "Babalou" giving a seminar there the other week.   Pretty cool.

downtown is where all the good gyms are, well downtown and richmond hill/north york.. too far though, I live close to 'sauga so it's hell to drive there to make it to a 6'o clock class.

i havent seen shooto yet, but according to my friend its 8000ft and they are getting a place thats significantly bigger soon. i guess they are hoping for the big payday when MMA is legal here cause right now it just seems like a huge money pit.
