oats myth???
« on: November 07, 2006, 07:25:06 PM »
so me and some fellas were BSing earlier today, and one of my buddies said that you can loose a pound of fat a night by having a cup of raw oatmeal before going to sleep at night (just plain no additives to include water), then another guy said "no you have to eat 3 cups throughout the day and sort of maintain an atkins diet style intake to see any significant results"... i said "i dont know about all of that?" anyone heard any myths or facts that relate? or any other fat dropping wonder miracles aside from obvious techniques???   thanks in advance

Funny I found this thread....because I go to work very early in the morning I wasn't eating until about 4 hours after I woke up. I started eating a pack of plain oatmeal every morning just to have some substance in my diet. I've been doing this for about 6 weeks and I've noticed that I've lost some weight, my pants are a little looser. I really don't pay too much attention to the scale but I do believe it's cause of the oatmeal. All in all my eating and training habits haven't changed...

and btw...it's not raw, i cook it according to the directions.

Eating oatmeal 3 times a day will cause you to loose weight.  The fiber's the key.  It goes right through you, so plan on hitting the can at least 3 times a day and unloading some monsters.  It's a great cleansing also, but eating all that insoluble fiber is the key.  It doesn't stay.  I serving a day is a good start and will help throughout the day.  It's only 1 of the good things oats has for you.

so what your saying is that your not really burning up fat more or less, just duecin it out? and that is where the weight loss comes from?

you can't just deuce out fat...fat has to be burned off through calorie restriction...my bet is that since you are eating more oates you are not eating other shit that can make you a fat mess.

Fat is not burned only through calorie restriction.  Fat can also be burned off by exercise.  i.e. calories are the same, but caloric expenditure is increased.
