Most recent pin question?
« on: December 12, 2006, 03:59:08 AM »
So just curious if this was normal never really experience it before.... So I was pinning yesterday like I always do needle went in clean and aspiration showed no blood, so I proceeded to inject, all is still fine. Then i pull out and blood shot on to my hand and there was a little bit in the base of the needle.  Bleeding wasn't really serious just kinda odd that it shot out like it did, I assumed that with a clean aspiration I may have went through a vein or somethin??? Im swore as shit today I know that much

You either went through a vein or through a packet of blood vessels. I had the same thing happen once. When you pulled the needle out it cleared the ruptured vein or blood vessels and the back preasure of the blood flow shoots out. You will be fine. Be sure to rub the injection site immedietly after injecting to help remove absess build up of oil and help absorbsion. That will help some with the next day pain of injections.

Maybe a vein on the way in or out.  Also, if it was a larger bolus (>3cc) I suspect you can rupture some smaller vessels from the injection pressure.  Startling, yes, but not a problem.  If it happens again, just hold pressure for a minute or two.  Pick a different site for the next round.  This happens to me most commonly when I inject my glutes.
