Want to Compete-But not allowed too.
« on: December 11, 2006, 05:58:42 AM »
It's been a goal of mine to compete and to do some small local show. However no natural bodybuilding federation will let me because I came forward and said I take Lasix for medical reasons and I can't really hide the fact when they drug test.

The reasons are I have cardiomyopathy, open heart surgery, and a pacemaker. But when my health stabilized I started lifting weights. I started at 150 pounds like 9 years ago and now I weigh a muscular 192. I lift with good form, moderate weight-I dont want to risk a chest injury, eat right and take just a few supplements, protein, multi, glutamine, creatine, thats all I use.

Now I have an urge to compete and hopefully inspire others with my story that they too can have a great physique despite limitations. At first I was worried about the scar but then if George Farah can do it then so can I.

What gripes me is that so called Natural bodybuilders take tons of supplements and are  considered natural and yet I'm not. You would think the federations would jump at the chance to have me in a show and to inspire people.

One person told me to try the NPC that they would appreciate me and they don't drug test.
I'm really pissed off by this and am thinking of quiting my bodybuilding attempts. Any advice and support would be appreciated.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just compete anyway - I don't think they test for something as specific as Lasix so choose whtever federation you want to compete under and go for it. You can still compete with a clear conscience wherever you are. Good luck.

That's tragic. What a heart-breaking tale of courage and hope triumphing against the odds...

The media keep reporting about the starving children and war crime victims in Africa. Instead of giving air time to those attention-craving media whores, they ought to be investigating how badly you have been mistreated...

My heart goes out to you...

Most natural federations test for lasix and most other pharmaceutical diuretics, but make exceptions for medical reasons.  Check further.

We would all think that.  I was talking to the fellas about it at the barbershop this morning, and they feel the same way.  how could they not jump at the chance to have a champ like you?  It's so inspiring you can use only lasix and look good, not be dependent upon unethical compounds like creatine or protein.

Carry on.  I'm organizing a march on Huntington beach this saturday for your cause.  We will overcome.

I'd imagine there is a federation outside the NPC that may let you compete if you are treated with lasix for a medical reason.  Try the NABBA.  Email Bob Gurskin with your question.  Even in the shows that aren't tested, they don't have a lot of drug abusers.  They even have some tested shows.

With your condition, it may not be the best thing for you to dehydrate for a show anyway.  Be happy with what you've acheived in spite of your medical issues.  Write to a magazine and get your pictures in there....or to some supplement companies.  Competing in BBing is not everything...its already hard enough on your body without heart issues.

Have you written a letter of explanation to the sanctioning body?

I think any org would jump on  a chance to make "ajustments" which would allow you to compete.

If you look good enough to be on that stage, it would be to any organizations advantage to allow you to do so.

Good luck to ya and keep on lifting.

Get ahold of Vince Goodrum. Not only can he hook you up with the best legal team possible for $49, he has found a way to convince some promoters to let him step on stage.  Now allot of promoters have turned him down but there are a few he bribed.  Take a look at the pic below and tell me if this is allowed on stage why can't you.  And the odds are in your favor you look allot better than this.

You should call all the cable news outlets and report on this grave travesty and injustice.  Remember, an injustice anywhere is an injustice everywhere.  This is MAJOR and can have far reaching ramifications, nationwide.  Now that rich AIDS patient, who gets steroid therapy, can achieve his lifelong dream of competing in the the WNBF or INBF before his body decides to abdicate itself to death.

You are a an inspiration to us all.
