Will Shawn Ray suffer the same fate as Mark McGwire?
« on: January 09, 2007, 09:43:30 AM »
In the release by Monster Barbell Company yesterday, it says (among other things) that "Shawn Ray will be inducted into the IFBB Bodybuilding Hall of Fame this year."  In related news, Mark McGwire will likely not be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame today.  Both competitors had very successful professional careers.  One man failed a drug test administered during one of his major competitions and the other guy never failed a drug test. One man admits to having using steroids throughout his professional career and the other guy has chosen to stay silent on the subject (though there's strong speculation that he also was a steroid user.)  One man will be going to the Hall of Fame this year, the other guy ain't.  What does this teach the kids of America and around the world?

My career wasn't made for "Teaching Kids"
How many Kids do you know that I competed against and of them, how many were Drug Free. :-\
I'd like to thank The Academy and all those who voted for me.  ;D
Thank you Flex Magazine and Editor, Peter McGough & Joe Weider for the Hall of Fame Induction spread in the latest Flex magazine with Arnold on the cover.
Peace,
Shawn

Completely different.  In bodybuilding, everyone is juice to the gills.  In baseball, just 40%.  So, one is an even playing field, while the other is not.
They shouldn't let McGwire in the Hall of Fame.  What a cheating douchebag.  Monster integrity man!
"I'm not here to talk about the past."  Ok Mark, sounds good, and we're here to tell you the Hall is not in your future.  Get some balls man.

There was one guy you used to compete against that claimed natural status, Mike Ashley was it?  Your thoughts?

Can't argue with that though it's funny how using steroids is against the IFBB rules, whereas using steroids was not against MLB's rules during the time that McGwire played.

Even though we (I) know he probably did take something, there has been no proof and if you don't think that baseball isn't on a even playing field, thats being naive about the goings on in the sport!!

Who gives a shit about a level playing field anyway.  Unless everyone is born with identical genetics, there's no TRULY level playing field.  That's just life.

If someone wants to take some juice to hit a few more homeruns, so be it.  If he wants to smoke a cigarette to calm his nerves or drink a beer before bed, so be it.

WHere is the BB Hall of Fame.  Is it a place where there are tourists and people paying to walk through it like at Canton or Cooperstown.  Just wondering.  Or is it in a spare room in Weiders house.

Nothing wrong with professional athletes juicing, if they all do.  It's a level playing field if everyone sticks to the same rules.  That's like me playing MLB and saying, "Frank Thomas is so much bigger than me, I'll never hit that many home runs."  Then I juice like a fag cause I have no heart or belief in my own abilities.  That shit is for weak people man.  Then again, with millions at stake, it's understandable...but in the end, they are looked down upon by society, but then again, who really cares what society thinks...ahahha
In the end, it's how you feel about what you do in life, nothing else.

It's all about the money.  If baseball players only made 50 grand a year, no one would bother juicing.

LOL!!! ahahahahahaha!  What a joke!  Mike Ashley probably STILL isn't natural!  I saw him in the late 90's in Vegas training at the LVAC and he was obviously juiced to the gills and large as a mofo!  Strong as an ox too!  Hope this helps... ;)

No way.  On the average?  I bet less than 20% of them make this much including sponsorships and prize money.

Like you said---he claimed..  And if he was, so what---who really cares besides you...  Derek Anthony doesn't...
