Reducing Workload on Carb Cycle
« on: March 22, 2007, 04:57:20 AM »
Come Monday, I'll start my first carb cycle.  I'm reasonably lean as is, so I'll probably only stay on it for a week or two to knock off the spillover from the latest clean bulk.  I'm natural, no supps of any kind except a multi.

I'm going to up cardio from 2 days/ week to 4.  Should I reduce the number of sets I do but try to keep the weight up, or since it's a short diet is it a good time to keep volume (or increase volume) and drop weight off the lifts to mix it up HST style?  Or should I say "overtraining be damned, full speed ahead" and keep both volume and weight as they are now or even shoot for gains?

Thanks for any advice.  :)

I've been doing it for awhile and have actually gained strenght..not lost any. Go balls to the way like any other day. Why cut your carbs back to cut up if you're going to cut back on your effort?

Kinda like going hunting and not brining the gun.  ???  The first day or two is going to blow balls. It GETS easier as you go but you've got to suck it up and keep a tube of vagisil for the days when you feel like being a pussy.

I overtrained badly once before while dieting, although I won't be going as low with the cals this time... learned my lesson about extreme dieting the hard way.  I hear what you're saying with regard to vaginal treatments, but if I see any of the signs that I ignored last time I'll be taking heed of them for sure.

I know I could just go balls out and simply refeed if I find exhaustion becoming a hinderance, but I want to make it over the finish line in one shot and in good condition.  Some adjustment en route is probably inevitable and it's tempting to just charge ahead and make appropriate changes as required, but I figured I'd chuck this thread out there and see what the rest of you are doing.

Cheers mate.  :D

You said yourself it's your first time to carb cycle. Do your thing bro. Everyone is different so go with what you feel like. Just don't be dripping on the gym floor, I don't want to be tracking your juice around on my clean shoes.  ;)

there is no overtraining, and never go easy in training.

Always train as hard as possible.  ;D

The council has spoken... and they told me to man up.

So be it.  :)
