People close to Don have said he uses low doses of gear.  I have no clue if that is true or not, but no matter what he was using, his blood pressure will be increasing as his body weight goes up - the same is true for anybody.  High blood pressure damages the heart and kidneys, so why choose to be big?

Don basically wanted to find solace by competing one last time and retiring on his own terms without feeling forced out of it.  Ok, fine.  But WHY must he use drugs to achieve this mental satisfaction?  The true hard work of bodybuilding comes with hard training and eating a bodybuilding diet.  How much pride is there in throwing in a few needles and pills on top of that?  Where is the hard work in THAT aspect of bodybuilding?  In my opinion, I think he should have come back - clean or maybe on an HRT dose.  I seem to doubt he was on an HRT dose during this DVD.

I just got off the phone with Don. He says he's a lifetime natural.

I think he would look good as a natural.  Sure, he would be a lot smaller, but I would say he would still have very good arms.  Maybe he would need an HRT dose since his natural test levels would be shot, but I think he would look ok.  I hope he sticks around in the bodybuilding world, but I really hope he does it off gear.

I'm meeting him later. We're sharing a banana split. I'll tell him your thoughts

He looks great, I'm surprised to see him looking that good. He has an awesome structure and no major flaws, very complete looking. I would like to see him on an Olympia stage one last time but not if it means his life. How old is he now?

If Don is already on dialysis then he already has complete kidney failure. I say he should up the dosage and go all or nothing. "all" being Mr. Olympia qualification... "nothing" = death.. seems like a good trade off..... that would truly be hardcore!!

Don will be 42 this year.  He did look great.  I really have no idea why he didn't place at the Atlantic City pro show.  I think it may be because the judges didn't want to see him get a taste for bodybuilding again as mentioned above.  From the pics, I remember Don's midsection was washed over, but otherwise he looked great.  Huge, huge arms.  Very thick back also.

INCREDIBLE THAT HE RETURNED...EVEN MORE INCREDIBLE IS HOW HE LOOKS. I DO HOPE HE DOESN'T SUCCUMB TO ANY ILLS BY COMPETING AGAIN. I REMEMBER HIM AS AN INCREDIBLE POSER AND HAD A BADASS PHYSIQUE, WHICH HE STILL HAS....I WISH HIM WELL

Don looks great.  Realizing what he's been through, it's amazing to see him looking like that.  I hope he stays healthy this time.  I can't help but be a little nervous for him though. I met him a few times, great personality and very good with the fans.

He looks good for his age, looks younger then most pros in their late 20' early 30's. It could be good that he had to take a long break, he may keep improving at an age when most are declining.

What problems would you guys say gear would cause Don given his medical condition, other than increasing blood pressure?  Presumably he avoided diuretics.

Depends how much and what he uses, he is is really just using small amounts I wouldn't think that's that big worry. I would worry more about whether or not he is eating healthy enough and ingesting enough vitamins and minerals everday to keep everything as healthy as possible. Look a Mike Materozzo, he said he was eating tons of beef everyday and his diets wasn't very good nutritionally which caused him to be more prone to medical conditions which he later suffered from.
