#1 those that are concerned primarily with appearance and less with substance (ie the truth doesnt matter, its only what you can prove)

#2 those that are concerned primarily with substance irregardless of appearance (ie the truth is paramount, despite its consequences)

Your point would have been better made by saying the two types of people in this world are those who are concerned primarily with how others perceive them and those who are concerned primarily with how they see themselves.

As the replies indicate, nobody is entirely one or the other; although idealogical leanings run strong, in practice, everyone is a unique mix of the two.
