While your'e at it, you also might as well put an asterisk next to the Bulls' final 3 championships because the East started to suck and the West became the dominant conference. People have done this before to the Spurs. They also tried to put an asterisk next to thier first championship because it was a 50 game season instead of an 82 game season. Fuck that. It was a sprint and not a marathon. It was grueling because you had to play more games in a shorter time. And the Spurs deserved that championship.
As a Rockets fan I am sympathetic to the Spurs, because people pulled that crap on the Rockets. They want to put an asterisk next to thier championships because Jordan was out of the league. Fuck that. HE DIDNT PLAY. That is worse than playing and then losing. He didnt go through the workouts, he didnt go through the practices, and he didnt go through the grueling 82 game schedule. People think he retired because of his dad dying. Bullshit. He denies that he retired because his dad died, and if you read b/t the lines, you will know he retired because he didnt think he was mentally tough enough to win 4 or 5 championships in a row. And who can blame him? If you win 3 championships in a row, you are going to start thinking you are invincible, then you will stop trying, and then you will get beat. But, if you retire, go play baseball in a minor league, get laughed at and criticized, then come back to basketball after two years and being rusty, people dont think you can do it, now you have a challenge again, one to get excited about.
The Rockets always matched up very well with the Bulls of the early 90s, even when the Rockets sucked. If you talk to Olajuwon, he will tell you he would much rather have played that Bulls team in the Finals and not the Knicks.
