90's opened the flood gates
« on: May 22, 2007, 06:51:52 PM »
Was reading Muscular Development, one with Freeman on the cover...great article by John Romano...

"Curse of the 90's" He talks about how the 90's really brought out some awesome physiques but with all the new drugs and extreme measures look at how alot of these guys ended up..

Dennis Newman
Paul Demayo
Mike Matarazzo
Mike Francois
Phil Hernon
Craig Titus
Don Long
Flex Wheeler
Tom Prince
Ray McNeil
Chris Cormier
Orville Burke
Jeff Poulin

He goes onto to say that although there is alot of up and comers like Phil Heath, Dennis Wolf and others...there may never be a caliber of athletes like there was in the 90's

Now of course we cannot definitively correlate Bodybuilding with the destruction of these guys i:e Ray McNeil's homicide but....

I think we are seeing the start of a really competitive slate of bodybuilders, think about it:

Melvin Anthony
Dexter Jackson
Darrem Charles
Dennis Wolf
Phil Heath

These guys are some considerably aesthetic classic physiques that on any contest day, anyone of them could take the ranks.

Cap..you hit it on the head.

Can;t remember exactly but either Hernon or Pulin got involved with rec drugs and fell off the face of the earth.....

There are some aesthetic athletes coming up, Dexter, Melvin, Heath, Freeman but still some blocky monstrous physiques like Ruhl...

Not sure if BBing will ever become graceful again.
