I've read about Teslas roadster. Sounds good and all but I hear the range was a lot shorter than first reported. Somewhere in the area of 40 miles?

No offense dude, but your logic that a car is lame because it can't maintain 180mph is just like someone saying a guy is weak because he can't incline 405 for 8.  I'm sure you have many more posts than I do at Autoweek.com though!

LOL.  The Tesla roadster blows away 90% of the cars on the road, and a few people are dumping on it because it loses to a V-10 Viper on top speed (after besting it on 0-60 acceleration).
