It's a good thing that didn't occur in Toronto. The humane society would've charged him with cruelty to animals.

There was a baseball game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the NY Yankee at the Skydome. It was a beautiful day, so the retractable roof of the Skydome was open. Being right at the foot of Lake Ontario... wouldn't you know a seagull flew by overhead. When Dave Winfield hit the ball, it collided with the seagull, ...and the humane society charged him with cruelty to animals.  Needless to say, there was a collective groan of embarrassment that went out throughout the city. Sometimes following the letter of the law is just plain stupid.

I've met my share of wacko animal activists who certainly fall in the category of off-the-chart loonies like vegans or environmentalists.

I'll eat a salad if you throw a steak on it.

I will continue to drive my SUV and get 15 mpg because when I do somewhere a hippy is crying.

And I will NOT kick a puppy. I'd rather stab a hippy in the neck with my SUV keys.
