How come bbs with lagging bodyparts never make improvements?
« on: August 21, 2007, 09:33:34 AM »
For example:  Kamali shows us the same shots year after year and as usual his back, shoulders and hams look sick, but the arms and quad sweep never improve despite the "most insane, gut-busting year of training that nearly killed him".

When do the arms and quads improve?   Is it possible that the focus be shifted off the outstanding bodyparts somewhat and directed towards the lagging ones more?    Isn't insanity often defined as doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different result?

genetically some body parts just don't respond to training

most of these guys know their weakness and devote time to it..but it is just not in the cards

it is the same with their standard out bodypart..I am willing to bet that they don't train it as hard as people think. Because they don't have to, it just responded and made gains will minimal training
Here comes the money shot

I dont want to criticize pros training. Because they are pro.
But, I hate his way of training. He is not "contracting" but "lifting".
For ex, i have never seen him doing slow continuous tension reps with right weight.

i'd say it's more a proportion thing.

king's legs and arms are massive, all kidding aside, but his torso is a lot more so and his waist.

if he got his waist down somehow (disgusted?) then his quad sweep and arms would look a lot more impressive.

actually everything would look a lot more impressive if he could do this so let's see.

i wish king all the luck. the man's stuck in the game despite setbacks and that shows a ton of heart no matter your opinion of his physique.

am i starting to agree with arvilla? i don't want to agree with arvilla. >:(

I've always thought that bad calves never improve but decent calves may. Its as genetic as eye color. I've never seen a case where a bb has been commented on that he has brought up his calves if they were bad initially.  :-\

in my amateurish opinion, i think someone like kamali whose body has gone haywire should do the following:

stop everything for a year, training, drug usage, partying, eating.  get himself down to what he would weigh naturally, (if he's around 5'8", i'd say 150 lbs or so).

then start over.  completely start over, this time doing everything the right way.  give himself about 2 years of natural progression (some would say it would take longer, but with his muscle memory, it shouldn't be a problem to put on about 70 lbs).

unforunately, this won't happen for him.

It is genetics and work ethic too , perfect example of work ethic is Mike Francios who's back has once considered weak he brought it up by leaps & bounds

and Arnold was a case of bad calves turned great

No priority training. Thats why. Ego takes over first.

it's not ego.

take a look at coleman. how many olympia titles has he got on his mantle piece? do you think he held the rest of his physique back because his calves were stubborn? ;)

trust me, if king can get his waist down a few inches and get drier, many here will change their tune.

nothing a little Synthol wont fix.  Valentino once had weak biceps, now they are the best in the business.

Ronnie Coleman did.   In his first Olympia appearance the television commentators said "he needs to spend time under the squat rack" as his legs at the time were not in line with his upper body.  Now, Ronnie's legs are some of the largest in pro bodybuilding.
