BBD's UFC 74 Experience Live...
« on: August 26, 2007, 07:25:22 PM »
Just thought I would give some candid comments about the fight for those that where not there of which you probably couldn't see on TV:

-Walk in to Mandalay Bay and I asked my wife if it was an "Affliction" party or a UFC fight going on...every TUF wannabe had a fuggin' Affliction shirt on which is about as common as an Orange County Chopper T-shirt in the trailer park... ::)

-Immediately stumble into Forrest as he was grabbing a beer in the venue.  He was mighty porky at 240lbs, so he said, looked a little bigger.  He's gonna have a fun time getting down to weight for his next fight...

-The fights where obvious as to what you saw and the crowd booo's for Sobral just about took the roof off.  He held that choke forever after the tap/ref stoppage.  GSP looked freaking ripped to the bone and very hungry.  In person it seemed Herb called Randy's fight off to soon...not enough closure in my opinion, he didn't look hurt to me, but that's the UFC (take it easy Randy fans, i'm on his side too)...

-After Kendal got his ass spanked I went to take a piss and ran literally into Kimbo!  He was walking around like a zombie not looking at anyone with sunglasses on going to the bar.  People where yelling his name and he didn't even respond.  Either he was drunk, didn't care for tuf newbies or is just a bad muther f*cker that don't give a f*ck!

-We kept peepin' Jenna Jameson and at how grossly skinny she is.  Obviously on the "hollywood" diet or something.  If she weighs 100lbs i'd blow Tito with my wife watching!  Nasty beeatch!

-Kobe Bryant was there and got mad boo's.  Chuck Zitto was walkin' around barrell chested like a mofo lookin' for trouble.  Good ole' Lee Major (the fall guy) was sittin' by Forrest.

-Other than that, all the usual shit, guys in the stands yelling out moves to the fighters like they know what the hell's going on... ::)

Keep you posted on the next one...this should be enough to get some of ya'll going... ;D

Peace, BBD

Entertaining report. However...the Randy fight called to soon? I don't think so. Once Gonzaga got his nose broken, he was DONE.

Maybe on TV it was more definetive.  With the roar of the crowd it looked quick.  Good stuff though...

Cool recap.  Thanks.  Did Rogan interview KOS after his humiliating loss?

No, KOS looked like he was lost and devistated plus GSP took his usual 10 minute post fight speech.  I just don't think KOS got into his rhythm and was overwhelmed.  Every dog has his day and GSP looked like an angry pit bull!

Was there any talk about how KOS basically gave up a minute before the fight ended?

what kinda seats did you have? my experience from watching cage fights before (not ufc) is that it's hard to get a good view watching it live

Yeah, people are saying that he basically when in thinking he was someone he wasn't and GSP just overwhelmed him by his presence alone.  It's crazy to think that way since he has some fights but the thinking is that the "big" show for him made him choke...

I was in the 6th row back in the acutal stands which is on the side where KOS, Gonzaga came out from.  The floor seats suck balls and to be honest the higher up seats give you a better vantage point on the fight.  The cage does get in the way and alot of the time we are watching the arean monitors which is what you see at home.  I think MMA fights are more about just being there which is fun as hell to see all the big cats running around...I probably missed 1/2 the action by looking around and going to piss & beer runs... ;D

yeah i either go ringside if i can get really close (first rows) otherwise prefer higher up but i agree it's got a lot to do with being there for the atmosphere etc
its like when i went to barcelona to watch real madrid-barcelona in soccer (football for us euros) it was sold out, 100 000 people (cheapest ticket 70 bucks) didnt see much but it was a great experience  :D

Forgot to mention that Wandy was there running around taking more pictures than anyone I ever seen in my life.  I bet his cheeks hurt he was smiling so much.  He was about 5 seats down from Dana in the first row.  I'm thinking he was doing some serious politicking. ;D
