Don't know. If his blood pressure is alright he may not be doing additional damage. If his kidneys are already completely destroyed and is on dialysis he doesn't have to worry about damaging them further. I'd think it's healthier to keep LBM up instead of pissing away all of his muscles.

His kidneys are blown and he's on dialysis.  Trust me this guy is under a lot better medical management than most of us.  Why not be big??? I think a bunch of people are jealous because most of the board could never get as big as a guy on dialysis and it really punches their egos in the dick.

no, its just astounding and crazy that a guy who is on kidney dialysis is still juicing and trying to compete.  This cant possibly be good for his blood pressure.

          Give it up, jeez.

How do you know that the steroids are hurting him? Like I said, there's a big chance they are helping him. I'm sure his use is medically supervised at this point and his doctors know what he is using.

Wow there are 8 kidneys among 3 people in that pic-Don has 3, Felx has 3 and Lonnie 2.
Only 3 of them work though lonnies 2 and flex's one.
They leave the kidneys in, bad or not.
Must be shitty to have to hook up a machine every night...

Scary to say the least!!!

Every one of us is wasting our lives, in someone's eyes.

Much the way we look at Long as crazy for using at this point...

The 3-cardio-day-a-week vegan will look at a recreational bodybuilder and accuse him of wasting hours every week in the gym, killing himself with chicken and egg yolks.

I don't blame the 3-cardio-a week vegan geek",

I too think youre wasting your time if the way you look is the result of eating chicken and egg yolks.

Yeah, pretty sure. He is on dialysis. I'm sure he goes for check-ups quite frequently, getting everything tested. The docs aren't fools, they can see with visual observation alone that he is on steroids and different blood markers will show that also. So either he uses them by his own, and his docs KNOW, or he gets the steroids via prescription.

Here's an example of what I was talking about:

Anabolic effects of nandrolone decanoate in patients receiving dialysis: a randomized controlled trial.
Johansen KL, Mulligan K, Schambelan M.

Department of Medicine, San Francisco General Hospital, University of California, USA. johanse@itsa.ucsf.edu

CONTEXT: Patients receiving dialysis commonly experience malnutrition, reduced muscle mass (sarcopenia), and fatigue for which no effective treatment has been identified. Anabolic steroids are known to increase muscle mass and strength in healthy individuals, but their effect on the sarcopenia and fatigue associated with long-term dialysis has not been evaluated. OBJECTIVE: To assess the effects of an anabolic steroid, nandrolone decanoate, on lean body mass (LBM), functional status, and quality of life in dialysis patients. DESIGN: Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial conducted between April 1996 and July 1997. SETTING: Hospital-based outpatient dialysis unit. PATIENTS: Twenty-nine patients undergoing dialysis for at least 3 months. INTERVENTION: Nandrolone decanoate, 100 mg (n = 14), or placebo (n = 15) by intramuscular injection once a week for 6 months. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Weight, LBM, fatigue, grip strength, walking and stair-climbing times, and treadmill performance after 3 and 6 months of treatment. RESULTS: Lean body mass increased significantly in patients given nandrolone compared with patients given placebo (mean change [SD], +4.5 [2.3] kg; P<.001 compared with baseline). This effect was significantly greater than the change in LBM in the placebo group (mean change [SD], +1.9 [1.6] kg; P = .003 compared with baseline; P = .005 compared with nandrolone group). Serum creatinine levels increased in the nandrolone group (+168 [203] mmol/L [1.9 [2.3] mg/dL]; P = .02) but not in the placebo group (-4.0 [177] mmol/L [0.04 [2.0] mg/dL]; P = .95), suggesting an increase in muscle mass. Time to complete the walking and stair-climbing test decreased from 36.5 to 32.7 seconds in the nandrolone group, while those in the placebo group increased from 38.7 to 42.1 seconds (P = .05). Peak oxygen consumption increased in the individuals in the nandrolone group who performed treadmill tests, but not to a statistically significant degree. Grip strength did not change in either group. CONCLUSIONS: Treatment with nandrolone for 6 months resulted in a significant increase in LBM associated with functional improvement in patients undergoing dialysis.

Anabolic steroids and malnutrition in chronic renal failure.
Soliman G, Oreopoulos DG.

Division of Nephrology, Toronto Hospital, Ontario, Canada.

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether anabolic steroids are useful in the management of the malnutrition of chronic renal failure. DATA SOURCE: Original research studies and book chapters about anabolic steroids and their use in uremia and various illnesses associated with malnutrition. We included studies that describe the benefits of anabolic steroids in the treatment of anemia and sexual dysfunction of chronic renal failure. Forty-two such studies were published between 1942 and 1992. RESULTS: Anabolic steroids improve the nutritional status and sexual dysfunction of uremic men. In addition, anabolic steroids have a recognized place in the treatment of the anemia of chronic renal failure. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the findings of noncontrolled studies, one may conclude that anabolic steroids exert a beneficial effect in the malnutrition of renal failure. We believe that their efficacy should be established by controlled studies.

This was just a quick search, and these are a few years old. But it illustrates my point.

Here's one on hGH and IGF-1 and dialysis patients:

Advances in anabolic interventions for malnourished dialysis patients.
Fouque D, Guebre-Egziabher F, Laville M.

Department of Nephrology and Research Center for Human Nutrition, Hôpital Edouard Herriot, Lyon, France. denis.fouque@chu-lyon.fr

Malnutrition is a frequent state during maintenance dialysis. Among a variety of reasons, chronic catabolic events as well as resistance to anabolic compounds do induce an imbalance in protein metabolism and favor a chronic loss in protein mass. Anabolic effects have been obtained in pilot studies with recombinant growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor-1 in adult dialysis patients. More recently, the come back of androgen therapy provided reports of a positive impact on body composition and physical activity during maintenance dialysis. Strong improvement in nutritional status has also been obtained by more frequent dialysis sessions, either during long nocturnal or short daily schedules. Thus, promising new therapies are emerging to fight the important incidence of malnutrition in dialysis patients. Copyright 2003 by the National Kidney Foundation, Inc.

uhm, the dialysis patients got 100mg of nandrolon per week, It's safe to assume Don Long is taking a lot more. Then loads of GH and perhaps insuline, no, pulling up some studies doesn't prove anything. Besides, if his doctor knew what he was taking he's an unscrupulous man/woman for letting him continue.

Getbig has a conscience beneath all the bullshitting, people see someone fucking up a last chance, a kidney that's given to him by his sister. We all know what silly narcicistic gits are in this 'sport', and this is a prime example and he's not the exception.

recognise, you too Ron!
