why do colleges have such a loyal fanbase??
« on: September 11, 2007, 04:30:21 PM »
everywhere i see people from every walk of life completely wrapped up in college sports, giving incredible amounts of support to particular universities.

WHY???

in many of these cases, these fans have never been to the school. so why do they support them?
even worse is the people who go to or have graduated from the school.

in my experience it is absolutely obvious that american universities are simply businesses like any other business, except for the fact that they have a guarenteed supply of customers who will go to them and pay them whatever they ask almost regardless of anything. no matter how shitty their customer service is, or how they treat their students, or if they double costs every year, their enrollments will increase every year regardless.

american universities openly exploit and rip off kids and their families more and more every year, and yet the public loves them for it. they are seen as nothing but socially benevolent entities yet they are nothing but ruthless monopolies which screw kids out of as much money as they want. i always laughed at all the fellow classmates who bought all the memorabillia and put so much emotional investment into the games. hahaha the people who run these schools are laughing all the way to the bank. being in texas you must be either a UT or A&M fan. i tell people i hope they both lose hahahaa

I don't support St. Johns even though I live right by it.

Don't care much for college sports.
