I have always heard that Manning was better then Brady would ever be
Up until Manning won his sb the consensus among most "experts" was that Brady was the better qb. That notion was scoffed at considering Manning's record numbers by people who know little about the game. The facts are that manning plays in a dome , and has been throwing to hof receivers since he started playing. he has always had top line, top weapons and the same offensive guru calling the shots. Up until this point there has been little "adversity" for manning to deal with.
On the flipside Brady was a HOF player throwing to scrubs. Lets be honest here. Manning had superior offensive weapons at every offensive position. His stats where also pumped due to the fact they had no d a lot of the years , and he had to throw constantly to outscore people. In the playoffs Manning cannot touch Brady. The numbers speak for themselves.
Brady had guys like Antwone Smith running the ball. Manning had a hof back in edge. The receiver debate is laughable considering Brady has never had a 1000 yard receiver up until this year. Brady's number one receiver last year was Reche Caldwell. A guy who cannot crack the starting team on the washington redskins these days. Brady went all the way to the afc championship game and almost won it. He elevated the play of Caldwell and Gaffney. Check the numbers.
Fast forward to this year. Manning is facing some adversity. Although he still has Wayne , he is forced to throw to guys who are not stars. This is not the first game Manning has looked average. Brady finally gets high talent receivers and he has 33 td's to 4 ints on the year through nine games. He does not play in a dome. Those numbers are plain old monstrous. Now add in the fact he has only been playing with his new weapons for nine games. Not years like Manning.
You might think the pats are throwing the ball more? They are not. The pats rushing attack is one spot lower then the colts. The ratio of pass to run plays is almost 50 - 50. You may also think the pats line has something to do with Brady playing lightyears above Manning. While the line is very very good , it has given up more sacks then Indy's line on the year. Manning is getting better protection.
Manning is a hof qb. He is overrated though. When it comes down to crunch time , when you are not 100 percent healthy or you cannot throw to guys who you have been playing with all year, the goats get it done. Brady has done this for his entire career. Manning needs to be held to the same standard.
