Combined that with the presidential approval rating and it should show you just how sucky our elected government is.

A few weeks ago, My boss was on a private shuttle from a Restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  On the shuttle were roughly 30 self made millionaires with half from the USA and the other half from Europe and Asia.  the question came up about the upcoming presidential election and the people from Europe and Asia wanted to know what the Americans thought of the issues.   No one form the USA on the bus had a competent grasp of the issues each candidates, event the issues the big ones were running on.   But the people from Europe and Asia did!  In fact they knew in great detail the platforms these Candidates were running on.

That's also very telling.   And BTW 90% of the people form the USA on the shuttle were conservatives  ;).  (not that's indicative of conservatives, i just found it kind of funny.)

p.s.   They also said, (the Europeans and Asians), electing a woman to president regardless of her qualifications would be a disaster in world politics because of the gender bias in many parts of the world.

I hope the republicans can serve up a moderate conservative as their candidate.   that's what its going to take to make Obama or hillary not president...IMO.

The "moderate" route is what has gotten the republican party into the very predicament that they are in right now.  This is NOT the way to go in my opinion.

Good story Ozmo.

Regarding the poll, it's amazing how quickly the Democrats squandered the capital they had after taking over the House and Senate.  They will be limping into the 08 elections.

I'm not sure a moderate Republican is needed to beat Hillary.  Bush won twice running as a conservative.  I think Rudy or Romney can beat Hillary.  Huckabee could probably beat her too.  She's too far to the left and too polarizing.  Things are going to get very ugly for her after she wins the nomination.  The Whitewater folks will be back.  People hate this woman.  They have written books about her alleged wrongdoing, etc.  I suspect we'll be hearing and reading about this a lot in the coming months.

I don't put much stock into these polls b/c they just present a "throw the bums out" mentality for the most part.  Yeah, the democrats have failed and that's unfortunate, especially re Iraq, b/c more lives will be lost and billions wasted on a profound error.

Ms. Clinton is not my first choice on the democratic side.  But if the election came down to her and anyone but Ron Paul from the republican side, I would not hesitate to vote for her.

The entire republican cast of characters in the primaries is just Bush redux.  No statesmen and no change of direction.

I'm not happy with most of the whole lot on both sides.  I don't know what is wrong with Democrats, but they have just done a horrible job of putting the best candidates at the top of the ticket for decades.  There are some good Democrats who ought to be leading the party (e.g., George Mitchell, Sam Nunn, etc.).  Hillary is just another sure ticket to another Republican in the White House.  Man I would not vote for her if she was the only candidate in the race.

Wow, if you call bush and company moderates i'd hate to see what you consider ultra-conservative.

Why do you consider them moderate?

I'm going to take a smashing guess that he considers him moderate because of his stance on immigration.  Bill Maher also noted that he seems to the left of center on that issue, he gives him kudos...  but oh brother, you know when a psycho extremist finds his stance left of center, there's hidden agenda.  It helps to look at all related subjects and not just focus on one thing in making a determination.  For example, it's a little silly for Bush to be backing American Sovereignty by strengthening our borders when he's signing onto agreements with Canada and Mexico that look to merge our nations and thus a moderate stance has extreme purpose.
