Cell Phone Insanity
« on: October 23, 2007, 11:27:18 AM »
I don't know how it is in other parts of the country, but, here on the upper eastside of Manhattan, it's just absurd. Maybe it's because I'm not the chatty type, but, unless it's for business, I can't understand why people have to talk so much on the phone.

The men are bad, but the women are ridiculous. There's a certain breed of "Sex in the City" type woman, here, who literally spends the entire day with a cell pinned to her ear. >:(

It's even more rude when they are talking on a cell in a public place (ie: Dunkin Donuts, restaurant, retail store, etc.).  That pisses me off.   >:(

Ok, now I'm confused. How is it rude for someone to be talking on a cell in a public place like DD etc.,?
Are you talking about the person behind the counter? ...cause I'd definitely agree there,
...but what's the difference if they're talking into a gadget or a real life person while at DD's. ???

People tend to talk louder on their cells.

What kills me is kids with cell phones. Mommy and daddy footing the bill.

:o  Oh I know! When I was down in Florida last month, my little cousin who is 8, proudly announced to me that she was saving some money, and pretty soon she'd have enough to buy her own cell phone. I said to her "Really? Do you feel you need a cell phone?", ...and her response "Well [name deleted] has her own cell phone, ...and she's 9." I just had to give my head a shake. What are they teaching these kids? I can understand an emergency cell phone programmed to be able to call certain preset numbers in the event of an emergency, ...but can you picture an 8 yr old on a cell phone running up those bills? ...not to mention the impact of microwave radiation on a growing brain?  ::)  It's madness

For many people chatting the cell is like watching TV or listening to the radio: it is just another form of entertainment.  I can’t judge anyone for that.

My main cell phone beef is people whom talk on it while crossing the street--and they are not paying any attention to the traffic around them!  I  want to run them down just to teach them a lesson!  >:(

{LOL} Be grateful they're not talking on the cell phone while you're crossing the street.  ;D

communication addiction, myspace and msn/AIM aren't enough, you can get your emails straight to your phone these days. more absolutely pointless banter....thankfully it's easy to unlearn, just go a few weeks to the countryside, chuck the phone and PDA in a lake and come back fully relaxed after a few weeks.

I've seen people having long conversations as early as 6 am and I honestly wonder who they are talking to.  Then when you see that same person have a similarly long conversation later that day, it makes you wonder how much they spend on minutes and who the hell has that much time to sit and talk.
