Yes, the days of Muhammid Ali, Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson are well behind us.

The current American Afro-American fighters are all caught up in the Rap culture.... much to their own demise. It was just a matter of time.

Now it's all about Klitscko, Ibragamov, Chagaev .... and this new Russian kid Povetkin (with an outstanding amatuar record). And even Oleg Maskaev could return from injury to kick Samuel Peter's ass whenever he wanted to.

not sure I'm ready to hop on the povetkin bandwagon just yet considering he's russian and has never fought outside of germany or russia, but gettin bryd out of there is somewhat impressive,but I'd be a hell of a lot more impressed if he came to the U.S and did that...

he's been in there with c level fighters (with the exception of byrd) so far and I can see him doing alot of shit wrong

Boxing's like MMA though.............

Povetkin is young and needs to take baby steps. That being said he did get Byrd out early and has an impressive resume.

You Americans can bitch all you want that the heavyweight division sucks ... but I ask you ... show me a good American Heavyweight contender?

this has nothing to do with whether or not an american is in the mix or not

klitchko's bored the shit out of me..

ibragamov's a southpaw and slaps with his shots (never like watching southpaws in any division)

I can't even count the times I've seen Maskaev in there and be mentally defeated and look like shit sometime after the 3rd or 4th

chagaev is ordinary at best

the division sucks and europe is importing c level amercan fighters to fill seats in germany or russia...

as I said....let them fight here and I'll start paying a little more attention to them

I guess I'm just happy that these Russians have showed up the best American fighters .... all of whom are black .... and these same black fighters have claimed for years that the "White Hopes/Dopes" were not worthy of holding the belts?

Now what are these black heavyweights saying?

hey, more power to the russian guys if they can dominate the division ( they basically are),I have no problem with that,I've just been sick of the division for what seems forever now....

I'd love to see Maskaev be more consistant and unify all the belts but with heavies they tend show up for some fights and then take some fights off !

Boxing is a sport you must take up young and the best pros have a long amateur career. In this country that has been restricted to inner cities-thus the lack of white fighters. Pavlik had 100+ amatur fights and he just knocked out Jermain Taylor-a rare exception.

In Russia, they have plenty of boxers who started as small kids-and have 100+ amateur fights. These guys are hungry and good, better than what the US is producing, Byrd was just battered by this guy and said the Russian will be the HW champ. This Russian is a great example of how and why Russian HWs are dominant.

definitely Heavy Hands, His punches are extremely accurate and he really leverages power on each shot. He looks like he is really gfifted and hes not even big or bulky-6-2/225. To outpunch Byrd like that means he has very good hand speed and exceptional boxing skills.
