Torre is a Dodger

Looking like Joe Torre will be the next manager of the Dodgers and will bring along Don Mattingly as bench coach.

If this is true, and several sources are reporting it, I honestly feel sorry for Grady Little. I'm not going to complain the Sox fired him after 03, but now he gets fired in LA too, the Dodgers collapse wasn't really his fault

Latest reports say Little is done..... If Torre gets the job that sucks for Grady. Torre got him in 2003 and again in 2007!

Mattingly is such a stand up guy.he had a phone conference yesterday.
The Yanks asked him to stay on as bench coach.he turned it down saying it wouldn't be fair to Joe G.he also said{true or not}George never promised him he would follow Torre as the manager.

Even just the coaching addition would do wonders for the Dodgers.  I would love to see Torre and Mattingly come over to us.  Their names would bring in big name players, such as Arod.  Getting the entire combo would really go far for the team.

3 year deal. It will be interesting to see how Joe does without the talent and $$$. If he tanks it will give a lot of ammo to his critics. He had litle success before the Yanks. IMO i think he'll be a good fit but it's gonna be tough with ARI and COL in the division. Also will any Yanks follow him there?

I agree but no team has resources like the Yanks, but this is a good move for the Dodgers. A competitive LA team is good for baseball.

The dodgers have money to sign players. How do you know Torre will tank? Being a manager has a lot more to do with actually managing games. Torre led the yankees back from an absolutely putrid start. He dealt with all the NY drama and had his team poised to win. Not his fault they where not good enough.

Torre is overrated a bit , but he is a good manager imo.

The dodgers have money but they don't spend like the yankees.  If he truly wants to prove his managerial skills he should manage the royals or pirates.  Until then he is just another guy that was in the right place at the right time.

Even more proof that baseball is a joke.  The NFL doesn't even have a team in LA and they are thriving.
