Hedge, if p/lifting wants a greater audience, it needs the barbell barbies. gimmicks sell, fat bald guys smashing their heads against barbells, opening up their heads, knocking themselves out, before they even perform the lift DOESN'T.
barbell barbie types encourage more barbell barbie types to take up the sport and, ultimately, tell women that's it's cool to p/lift, you aren't going to end up looking like a refridgerator with legs and nobody is going to mame, rape or kill you...well, at least not post 900lb squat....not immediately post......anyway, people just don't get it. if you don't want people to look at you lifting obnoxious weight, you would remain in the gym, so, if you want people to watch you, make yourself
