Ironman Pro 2008

How come there is no Strongman or Bench events this year? Honestly that's the most exciting part of the whole weekend!

Thanks, they don't mention it on the Ironman pro site.

that's because the Ironman is part of the Fit Expo, not the other way around.

The FitExpo is big this year, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Besides the Ironman Pro Bodybuilding event, and the NPC Ironman figure event (4 classes), they have a number of other events with the expo.

Including

The Gracie US Nationals: Rose Gracie brings her family tradition of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the Los
Angeles FitExpo in an event that will feature two days of Gi and no Gi
competition.

Teen Strength & Fitness Challenge: Obstacle course fitness challege, muti-level strength competitions.

MMA Tournament: Gladiator Challenge and The Los Angeles FitExpo release the fist batch of
tickets for “Evolution”, a 15 cage fight event to be held LIVE! Saturday
February 16th, 2008 at the Los Angeles FitExpo.

Fittest Couple Fitness: Whether contestants have a lot of muscle or just some definition, they can still do really well. Judges will be looking for: stage presence, fit & toned physique & overall “couple” chemistry.

All American Strongman Challenge: will determine the American athletes to compete in the 2008 World’s Strongest Man Super Series. The top six athletes will receive All American Team Honors and the top athletes will get an invite to one of the Grand Prix stops on the 2008 WSM Super Series which is one step from qualifying for the 2008 World’s Strongest Man.

MexReps Competition: Put all your hard work in the gym to the test and win up to $2000 in the MAX REPS 4 CASH attendee contests held during The Los Angeles FitExpo 2008. There is no rule preventing the same person from winning all 4 contests: so start training NOW!

Scot Mendelson Pro Bench Press and WPO Championships:

USPF American Powerlifting Cup: The United States Powerlifting Federation and Powerlifting California

well, unless they start advertising locally, such as in the LA Weekly, and Frontiers, and start standing outside gyms handing out 4x6 cards, the convention center might seem a bit too spacious.

Agreed, I was pissed that they had the MetRx strongman right here in Huntington Beach and I (nor very many other people) knew about it, they didn't do any advertising at least in my area or any of the gyms in my area and I train at MetRx!!

lots of people in the fitness community would have an interest if they knew about.  but how will they find out about it?   Few read the bodybuilding mags.
