megadose c vitamin + nephrolith
« on: January 03, 2008, 12:43:04 PM »
I fight with one of my friends, and he says you get nephrolith if you take megadose cvitamin daily.
You cant get nephrolith from vitamins, if u drink enuff water! So the cvitamin plays no role, but the water!
Can you please post links of a studie what proves you can not get nephrolith from megadose of vitamin c?
My english is not so good, and i cant find one. Thanks!

There is really no clear-cut known CAUSE for kidney stones.  Since vitamin c is a water soluble vitamin, toxic levels are not built up or stored in the body and any excess is lost mostly through urine.  You're not going to find a study that proves that.  Ask your friend to find a study proving it does cause stones  ;)

you should read linaus paulings book on vitamin c he sites several studies where massive comsumption of vitamin c 10-20g caused no harm, bowel issues that are transient are the only issue.

iv vit c uses 50grams with many health promoting benefits.

wrong. Vitamin C is stored in the suprarenal glands.

Your body stores about a 30 day supply.
