I ALMOST SHOT SOMEONE TODAY, 100% serious
« on: March 30, 2008, 08:13:23 PM »
This big ass black riding a harley is riding my ass, like less than 2 ft from my back bumper (I'm also going 35 in a 25).
After a couple miles, it really starts to piss me off. So I slam on the brakes.
The guy almost hits me, then immediately swerves over, and gets beside me, and starts staring me down.
We OF COURSE get stopped at a light next to each other.
He looks over at me, puts his kickstand down, and gets off his bike. In the meantime, I carry a springfield XD45 beside my drivers
seat.  I grip it, with finger on trigger, but still beside seat.
This black goes in his luggage rack, pulls out a revolver, and swings it towards me. I immediately pulled my gun, and as I'm raising it towards the window, he holsters his gun on his belt, just in time to see my pistol, and then looks at me like I'm crazy.
I was seriously a split second from taking this mans life.
Under the above circumstances, do you think I would've been in trouble for shooting him?
I mean obviously the guy had the intent of getting out his revolver to intimidated me into thinking he might shoot me.

I think while you might have eventually been no-billed, it would have been the legal hassle of your life.

Lesson for everyone road rage and/or intimidation is not the smart thing to do in this day and age, you never know who is strapped

The guy was lucky you didn't pop off a few rounds in his @$$

Depends on if you would have stayed there and called the ambulance.

Self defence is easy enuff to prove especially with witnesses!

My question is what did he do after he saw your gun?

Was your heart pounding as he came closer to you?

I have had that happen to me (some @$$hole trying to chump me in front of my children over a parking spot) but my kids were with me and I didn't want them to see their dad seriously injure or kill someone or being arrested. I backed off got back in my van and drove away (feeling like a total wimp of course)! Sad thing is I really wanted to take this thug out, he was a lowlife drug dealer and accused rapists (never found guilty) anyway and in my mind society would have been better off without this guy around. If it were not for my kids he would have been no more! That's what scared me, that I wanted to rid the world of this scumbag.

I'm getting pissed thinking about your situation and mine, I hate people that try to bully others.

yeah, you would have beaten the rap - he dismounted his vehicle and was CLEARLY the aggressor in this case.  He probably wanted to intimidate you, thinking you'd piss yourself when he knocked on the window with a barrel.

Next time, don't give him the brake test.  Just let him tailgate... the elevated cortisol and troponin heart levels will cost him a few days off his life, from getting all worked up over it.

I honestly dont know if i could have not pulled the trigger if i had seen his gun the moment he turned towards me. If i were you and I would have pulled off a few as soon as he started to turn around. You dont fvck about with guns and you dont pull one out unless your ready to use it, so if it was me the dude would be dead.

In Washington state you would have been covered.  The 3 golden rules are: Ability, Opportunity, and Jeopardy.

Ability:  The Dirtbag had the ability to do you harm.

Opportunity:   Strike 2 for Dirtbag!

Jeopardy:  You felt your life was in jeopardy....

*Bonus*  Also dont forget the golden life saving statement "I was scared or in fear for my life".

I'd have shot him the second his revolver was even remotely turning towards me. I guess it's just due to my military training but if there's intent towards me in any way I imagine my instincts would kick in and I'd shoot him without hesitation.

You have to shoot in that situation... hie 'parting shot', or round he fires into your vehicle could kill you, or leave you a vegatable, or paralyzed crapping in a bag forever.

The minute anyone gets off a bike, he becomes the aggressor (as you are trapped)
The minute he pulls a gun, he is committing a 'forcible felony'.
In most states, you are legal to shoot someone doing this.

www.packing.org has more info for you

As always, don't give ppl brake tests, wake and mouth the word 'sorry' if you can - take the hit to ego, as shooting him will create a thousand problems bigger than a small ego hit.  My brother shot a guy 2 years ago, and he lived, but my bro is still a little messed up from the incident.  It's crazy to think "I'm about to die, so I have to shoot and kill this man RIGHT NOW".  Military people who have been in war know... they come home with a totally different mindset having seen it.
