Better fat source or EFA source than protein...

But many more experts here than I so let them chime in. Why not just smoke that hemp? :D sorry, could not resist.. ;D

Agreed.

However, it's got a really nutty taste so you may want to use it in a mix - maybe 25% of the protein mixture.

They provide protein. It's not complete but it's protein none the less. I wouldn't substitute something like chicken for beans or sot. That being said adding them to your diet doesn't hurt.

Hemp was given an almost mystical status by the new age movement.
But other than strong rope, good cloth and a false positive for THC on a drug test I wonder if it really is that good for anything else.  ??? ;)

well yeah they have protein calories. but i have always understood those calories to be insignificant and unuseable by the body..

can veggy proteins be used to any extent for tissue repair?..or to any extent prevent muscle catabolism?

By complete protein I mean their amino acid profile. Your body will still use them - however, if it's lacking certain amino acids your body will need to get them elsewhere - protein powder, red meat, etc.

why would they be insignificant and "unusable"? this makes no sense, you should read a book.

wheat is lacking lysine for example but contains meth/cysteine which beans lack, but beans contain lysine for example. thus combining the to creates a complete protein.

by your definition vegetarians would be dead as the protein calories are insignificant, and protein is essential as in it cannot be made via alternate substrates.

I would agree but I only used whey as a comparison. I actually made some killer banana pudding with that Gemma Protein.

@Markoni...

Do you use this protein source? Are you a vegetarian? (My wife is, and I generally like the way my body feels when I'm not taking in massive amounts of animal protein.) If you do/are, what does the rest of your diet like?

Thanks!

Markoni
