BIG Mccain gaffe on iran/Al Quida
« on: March 18, 2008, 05:52:58 PM »
Today when speaking in iraq, Mccain spoke of how al-quida has been trianing in iran, then entering Iraq to do bad things, then they scurry back to iran.  Quote: "It's common knowledgte that AQ is going into iran.  That's well known."

This is inherently false, of course.

Immediately.  Joe Lieberman, standing alongside mcCain, whispered in his ear.  Then mccain said "I'm sorry... the iranians are training extremists... NOT Al-Quida."

So to review... this man is running almost entirely on a war / foreign relations platform.  And he doesn't even know which groups of AQ are coming from where?  You gotta be kidding me...

FYi... THREE times in the last 24 hours when speaking in Iraq, he's said "iran is training Al Q terrorists and sending them to Iraq.  This is false.  Lieberman-the most devout war hawk of all of them-  even agrees it's false.

mccain has called for us to bomb iran.
mccain said AQ comes from iran.

They don't.

he wants to commit a trillion dollars and thousands of troop lives to another war - and he doesn't even know what they're doing to warrant being invaded.

They actually did call more attention to it than that.  They did call into question his ability to lead not getting important facts straight without having Liberman set there to correct  him.  Talk about a huge blunder... Saying Iran is training Al-Qaeda  ::)

True, that did happen.  Overall I was actually impressed with the coverage of Obama today considering how they have been out for him from the start.  I'm most impressed with the fact that the overall opinion has been that it was one of the best speeches ever given in American Politics.  To hear that about Obama more than once on CNN really shocked me.  They have been out for him.  Today on CNN was a combo of railing on him but for once it actually was balanced with some good commentary.  I'm shocked.

Anderson Cooper called the Minister deal a non-story and shameful to have to cover it..then CNN forced him to the next day. I'd say that they are for him.
