Cunnilingus Rice is showing a rare moment of honesty here, but I'm surprised that Powell is getting such a free pass from the media. He's almost as guilty as the rest of them. Remember the notorious image of him holding up that little vial of white powder a few years back?
Oh he's not getting any free pass at all, ...Republicans are scared that he'll throw his support behind Barack Obama, and they're looking to cut any influence he may still have, off at the knees. Tucker Carlson and quite a few others are going after him now. How stupid for them to suggest he apologize to the US without realizing that if Powell needs to apologize, then too Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld etc need to apologize as well, infact moreso, and that if such an apology is required, it's absolute insanity to then try to sell the public that an extension of Bush policies through McCain is in order. But they may be banking on the US people's inability to connect the dots.
Tucker Carlson now blames Colin Powell for the Iraq war. Like he was the one who ordered the invasion to begin with or cherry picked the evidence that was put forth. The bottom line is Bush was going in with or without UN support, and it was gonna be better for the country if it went in with UN support, so he got in front of the whole world and lied his ass off. It didn't work though. They didn't get what they wanted out of the UN, but it did push forward one of the NeoCon objectives of exploiting the fears of an already psychologically traumatized American public. The rest of the world sat back and said "That's it. It's over for Powell. He's just ended his career, lost all credibility on the world stage, and committed hari kari for his emperor." He disagreed with the war, but had agreed to publicly support
King George's the pResident in his decision regardless of that decision. The administration knew how he felt and that's why he was frozen out from the start. If you read his book, you'll understand much of what transpired. I wish he wasn't such a "team player" though. There's a time for teamwork, ...but when you see players on the team playing football, when the game at hand is basketball, you need to stand up & call a Time Out.
At least Tucker finally got rid of that awfully stupid looking bow tie.
Can you believe the BS that comes out of these people's mouths. He even said Wolfowitz had to leave the world Bank because of the Iraq war. The fact is, Wolfowitz had to leave the world bank because of his inability to foster a spirit of co-operation. He barked order like a drill sargeant and told people what to do in an environment where people collaborated. All were decision makers and fiscal generals in their own right, and for wolfowitz with barely any credentials of his own to come in and treat them like privates in his personal army led to a mutiny. The final straw was a sex scandal involving an extremely well paying patronage appointment within the world bank for his girlfriend... that's why Wolfowitz was forced to step down... for incompetence, poor judgement, and lack of leadership skills, and creating a virtual revolt against him, his policies, and his management style.
