One of the biggest reasons Pavol didn't get even higher placings was that he peaked 8-9 yrs ago, when mass became the primary goal above all else.  There is a strong call for more balance now that Ronnie has been dethroned (Wolf, Martinez, Heath).  Pavol carried good mass but not enough to win most shows at that time.  Also, he did not help himself with his posing.  Pavol needed a good posing coach to improve the presentation of the amazing physique he had.
His back wasn't bad...but to win the big shows, it must be dominant.  His posing affected his back presentation as well IMO.
He was one of my favorites.
