Sleep Apnea
« on: June 17, 2008, 06:09:47 PM »
Anyone here suffer from this as well?  I was recently diagnosed with it.  Basically I stop breathing in my sleep about every 2 minutes which kicks me out of REM sleep causing me to feel like I haven't slept at all even if I sleep 10 hours.  I had been feeling like shit the past couple of months, progressively getting worse, no other changes in my life so I went and got checked out.  The doctor said this is fairly common in bigger guys, especially bodybuilders.  Just curious if anyone else has it.

I'll probably have to get a CPAP machine to sleep with or surgery at some point to fix the problem.  Not really thrilled about wearing a mask to bed every night...

Yup, this is what happens, you stop breathing and then begin choking trying to catch your breath.  Go see a pulmonary specialist, my GP was good enough to send me to one right off the bat as soon as I told him my symptoms.

Yes,
it is fusterating
My family keeps telling me to get in but I put if off
I find it more troublesome when I'm on cycle and
gain weight.
My face and neck gets puffy.
Every since I got over 200 I've had probes.
Then on top of that I have one side of my nose
caved in at about 70 percent.
very fusterating

not getting any sleep is way worse than wearing that mask, also i've been waking up feeling like shit.
im going to get checked out for it, for i think i suffer from it too. Man once i think my brain was giving me a nightmare to force my ass to wake up.. shit is scary exploding up of the bed gasping for air..

i train a client he suffers from it and has been wearing the mask for about six months, says it was the best thing he done and since he was getting sleep, he started to lose some weight.  From what he tells me that the surgery will have you drinking like a bird or something like that.

I have a CPAP.

My doc told me this is normal for guys with 18"+ necks.

Best sleep of my life since i got it. you will get used to the mask.

Check your insurance, mine wasn't cheap.
