Very proud of the IFBB Fitness Girls
« on: August 19, 2008, 08:56:53 AM »
Jen Hendershott here everyone!  I received an email this morning from Europa Super Show promoter Betty Pariso that made me smile big time.  Myself and Adela Garcia have spent many years trying to get the back stage atmosphere a kind and warm place for everyone especially the new girls!  Adela and I have been to many shows where there have been some nasty things said, things thrown, and nasty attitudes amongst competitors.   Adela and I believe that once you arrive to the show the work is done, its now up to the judges and we just want everyone to have fun.  Taking it too serious takes the fun out of competing, we have all spent the same amount of money, time, and put in the same amount of hard work so lets just have some fun.  When I see Traci Redding I am giving her a big pat on the back,  I would like to personally show my appreciation for her kindness to the amateur girl in this story.  I encourage Traci and the other girls mentioned in the email (I would like to know who they are as well) to continue their positive and generous ways.  The world is a better place when you can help someone in need.   Way to go girls! ;D

Hi Jen,

I want to relay a story to you that happened this weekend at the Europa Show involving the Pro Fitness ladies.

On Saturday late afternoon one of my NPC Fitness/Figure competitors came to me with tears in her eyes, and told me that she would not be able to compete in the NPC Finals.  I asked her why, assuming that she must not be feeling well or something, her answer was that her truck was broken into and her suitcase was stolen with everything she needed to compete.  She was competing in both the Figure and Fitness division.

I instantly assured her that we could fix this...not to worry!  A moment later I was thinking, oh no, she's in Fitness and doesn't have an outfit or shoes.  Just about that time the Pro Fitness ladies were coming off stage...I called them all over and shared with them the situation.  The result brought tears to my eyes.  They gathered around my NPC gal and acted like "big sisters".  They told her not to cry and started sizing her up to see whose suits and fitness outfit might fit her the best.  They put their arms around her and took her back to the dressing room to get her outfitted.

Later that evening I saw her just as she was about to go on in the Fitness routine division.  She looked great in her outfit and she even had sneakers that fit!  With tears in her eyes, she thank me over and over for saving her big night, of course we know it was the Pro Fitness ladies that came to the rescue.

I only know the name of one of the ladies who helped...Traci Redding, but she mentioned that others gave their suits and helped as well, and I want them to know how appreciative I am as well as the NPC competitor.

I would appreciate it if you could post this somewhere to let the ladies know how far a little kindness goes.

Sincerely,
Betty

I would like to extend a huge thank you to all of the competitors who helped out Wendy, the aforementioned NPC Fitness competitor.  This was Wendy's very first competitive experience in fitness and figure, and I was her posing coach for the past seven weeks.  I had attended the prejudging and talked with her at length after the "A" class finished for the morning (and afternoon).  All seemed well and good until I received a text later on telling me the news of her boyfriend's truck getting broken into and all of her belongings getting stolen.  Unfortunately, I was home for the evening and was not in the immediate vicinity to help her figure out a working solution.

To know that the pro fitness competitors combined their resources to make Wendy's night a success is very comforting and very admirable.  I'm very happy to hear that this type of comraderie still exists backstage.

Wendy was ecstatic to have such kind help.  Thank you again for doing this for a first-time competitor!

Hi everyone,

Jenny, I am sorry but you are going to have to entertain the girls backstage at the Olympia alone this year ;)!!
I will be sitting on the Audience with my crutches in the air clapping for everyone on stage.

I am sorry to hear about Wendy's bad experience about getting her belongings stolen. Like Jenny mentioned we always make every competitor feel confortable backstage.  The work is done and all we want to do is enjoy the moment. You guys be surprise how much we all help each other backstage. Yes we are competing against each other but we want everyone to look and feel confortable specially when it is their first show.

Never feel like you can't come to another competitor and ask for their help. Some of us bring extra suits just in case. I was just working the GNC booth but for you information, I always bring extra suits in case someone needs a suit.

This is very nice to see and it makes me happy that she was able to do finished her first show and the experience will motivate her for the future.
